I own a 05 lancer ralliart and for the longest time I keep hearing squeeking from my seat. So today I went to find out what was making the noise and I came upon a metal bar behind my seat broken near the weld . It look like if the metal gave way not the weld so is it a mitsu defect? The weld is fine there are no rust but I was wondering has anyone encounter any similar problem? I was planing to call the dealership and ask them about it since I did buy it used from scarbrough mitsu in Nov 07 and being only 130lbs no way my weight could have broken the metal. Also is this covered?

 

i have 06 lancer and the trunk and gas cap lever, and right in the front where the seats are bolted down look like its rusting...don't know if thats normal.

 

Externally it's useawl it be rusting inside the cabin though unless there are alot of water, moisture and salt it will corrod I think it's not normal being me 05 I only have body rust from rock chips which I fixed. What I would recommend is sandblast or clean the corrosion and seal it with a primer. Same with outside. But go to dealership and ask. I went to North Toronto mitsu and they took a look at the seat and they are going to replace it. Im still under warrenty I got to love warrenty.

 

yeah all of those i mentioned are on the inside, so why would they sell it like that.
i saw it , and i mentioned it to them but don't think they cared....and thats the mitsu dealership
