Careful driving with WINTER TIRES!

Careful driving with WINTER TIRES!

Just got myself a set of Gislaved Nordfrost 5 with some steel wheel, was on my way home close to my house where when I took a right angle corner at the usual speed that I take it (like ~40km?), skidded like a **** and prob came within a feet or two from hitting the left-lane divider.

So yea, be careful. Would've gotten Dunlop Winter Sport 3D if I knew the grip was going to be like THAT.

were you refering to that tires dry traction? if so sometimes handle their own on snow or dry conditions. Some are strictly only Winter and suck badly in dry. lol some snow tires suck in winter and dry conditions lol hahha

are u driving stickshift?
did u switch gears during ur turn
bcuz if u did and it wasnt a smooth shift ie. over rev or under rev instead of matching
it will change the rate at which the wheel spins causing u to lose traction

Mine is CVT ... it was definitely the tires because I take that corner home almost daily. Since I was almost home, I sort of forgot I have these snow tires put on and didn't realize the big grip difference. The road was wet too so that might have something to do with it.

Blizzak WS60 for me. I had a deal on them too, $400 for just the tires.

Well I sort of did a similar test (yea crazy i know :P) on the same corner but I'm pretty sure that I was going faster than 40 before, probably ~50 and I'm used to doing a wide turn (think like 'drift' style). I guess the combination of THAT + wet condition + extra > 150lbs of spare tires and rims broke the traction on the tires.

Well at least now I'll drive a bit more conservative.

I actually find snows to have more grip than a lot of all season and even summer tires. The soft compound generally grips despite the sloppy response from the soft sidewalls and big blocks!!
