Buying a 2009 MR this week, the dealer has agreed to a $3000 discount. I was just on the Canadian Mitsu site, and saw they are doing a $1000 Citi Mastercard w/ the purchase of every car. Can I expect this on top of my discount? Or does the $1000 come out of the car gross? Just trying to make sure I get the best deal.

The $1000 would come from Mitsubishi Canada directly, on top of the $3000 off - at least it should be on top of the $3000.

Yes, the $1000 Citi Mastercard should be on top of any discount you get from the dealer.

FYI, You should be able to get more than $3000 off list for the car. I got $4000 off when I bought my 2009 MR in October. You should be able to get a least that or more since the 2010 are out now.

What dealer are you buying the 2009 MR from?

Not necessarily. When you bought your MR the rebates could have been different to how they are now. Often times the money they discount the car isn't all out of the gross - they use the rebates as well. If those have gone down, there's no way you can get the $4000 off (if there isn't that much in gross that is).

Thanks for the replies guys. Seems like this is the best deal I can get, no one else will do the price. Had the deal I wanted at Oakville Mitsu (700p/m with trade), then they tried to jack it up to 735 at the last minute (They did this TWICE!)

I only want Phantom Black, so I called the dealer that they were getting the car from (Quebec) and got the 710p/m from them directly, cutting Oakville out.
I'm glad that they jerked me around though, Since last month I wouldn't have picked up the extra $1000!

I've confirmed the extra grand with the dealer, and know that they have a $250 participation on their side. I sell Nissan's, so I don't mind them making a little bit of money...... We've all gotta' eat. Having to pay the $350 for freight to Toronto, and wait a minimum of 5 days sucks *** though.

I hate it when dealers jerk you around like that. I'm glad you cut Oakville Mitsu out.

I used carcostcanada when I purchased mine. I paid exactly what I was quoted from CCC so I was happy with my purchase.

Sucks you have to wait for your car but in the end it worth it.

Congrats on your new car.

I bought from Quebec Mitsubishi. The sales manager's name is Jimmy, he was a good guy to deal with, no BS. Tell him Andre sent you, and he'll hook you up.

A warning to all car owners:

I had the windshield on my STI replaced under warranty for a stress crack at Budds' Subaru. They subed it out to some windshield guy that chipped up the paint around the windshield. They had to blend the paint from around the windshield out to fix it properly. When the buyer found out, he cancelled the deal. I ended up selling to Budds' for $2000 less than the original number because no one else wanted to deal with a car that had paint work.

DO NOT LET ANYONE PAINT YOUR CAR IN THIS TYPE OF SITUATION!!!

Instead, get a cheque for the value of the repair to recoop your depreciation, and use touch up paint!!!
