Question Economy Mode for Cobb AP

I am currently running the stage2 map on the cobb ap (intake and tbe). My question is can I run the economy mode/map with those bolt ons? Is it safe? I only ask because I will be making a 2hr trip this weekend (all highway) and I would like to see if I can get better gas mileage. Has anyone done this yet? Do you recommend it or not? Keep in mind the bolt ons I have. Thanks in advance

I run the stage 1, but I have run the economy as well. On a 6 hr highway trip (75mph), I saw only about a 1mpg increase. Didn't seem worth swapping maps really.

Economy maps won't get you any better fuel mileage, just be easy with your right foot and stay out of boost.

Take the lead out of my shoe? I love ignorance.. I'll be driving with cruise control at 65mph. But thanks to those who got back to me . Cobb shouldn't even have the economy mode in there lol

EXACTLY.

Economy map sucks. Well-tuned map (in low load) will give you much better economy than this "special map"

no ignorance implied just be gentle if you need to overtake other cars and use cruise control and youll see acceptable mpg ... but truth be told the evo is a ****ing pig when you hit boost she loves gas she sips thats **** like junkies snort cocaine

I kind of disagree that it's all in your foot.

Sure it is, but you can also have a map with less boost which allows you to drive a little more spiritedly without losing all the mpg.

For instance you can putt-putt on the normal map you use and maybe get say 25mpg. Romping on it here and there you may get 20mpg.

If you want to have a little fun you can run lower boost and then getting on it here and there may net you 22mpg for instance.

Just lower boost and add more timing. Or set the temp for boost control to some super high value so you never run more than wastegate pressure. Surely 12psi vs 20psi+ will net more mileage without driving like granny.

My US $0.02

(For a GSR owner)
IMO the biggest killer of fuel economy for highway trips in the Evo isn't someone's driving style, or an economy tune. It's the final drive ratio.

Highway driving at 75mph (in some places like here in AZ) is like 3700ish rpms. The Evo seems happiest cruising at 55 for fuel. So best mod you can do is get your trans to shep and get the fifth gear swapped out to something a little longer. Wouldn't be surprised that cruising at 75 would yield the economy increase around +3/4 mpg.

Sadly I averaged +1.5mpg better on my last tank of fuel without my carpool because I was coasting along in the 20-45mph traffic, opposed to the 70-80ish I do in the carpool lane.

I get 22-24 MPG averaging 80-85 MPH driving to/from Dallas/Minneapolis.

Back when I had my '07 Si, there were two options for tuning: Hondata and Cobb. Cobb made an Accessport that had an economy map. Guys were claiming some incredible mpg numbers. I wouldn't know as I had Hondata, but I would assume that the same thing would apply to the Evo unit. My Evo, although bone stock, gets about 24 mpg on the highway. As others have said, a judicious right foot helps.

So after my trip this weekend, it showed that I was getting 24.5mpg going 65mph on cruise control. I honestly didnt think I would get that much on the stage2 map BUT I did. Not bad at all.

Well, yes, cruising at low speeds can give you that mileage. But try crising at 80-90mph

I dont bother with economy mode. every so often i throw a system to lean code. I have checked voltage at the o2 sensor I have used a graphing meter and checked map maf tps crank and cam, I have no boost leaks or boost spikes. I just stay on my stage 2 and deal with it. But i would like to get a protune when I return back to dallas from school here in PA
