Anyone actually denied warranty after unmarrying?

There are a lot of threads about the possibility of a ecu flash counter. I want to hear from people that have actually had the Cobb, unmarried the AP, and then were denied warranty because of too many flashes on the stock ecu.

This is not something you need to be worried about.

Too bad all dealers don't sell the AP like mine does though

Haha my friend you are lucky! Who is your dealer? I know where I bought my X from they also sell the Cobb. That was Don Herring Irving branch. Too bad they are 7 hours away.

Yup...Don Herring Irving is who I use too, luckily they're not 7 hours away from me I had dinner with Don Jr. a few nights ago; great guy who really cares about the community and club. He's hosting Texas MOD (Mitsu Owners Day) in June, then sponsoring a track day in the fall. You should come down for MOD.

That's cool! Don was there when I picked up the car. He told me about the track day. I just didnt know if it would be worth the long drive. Is it a pretty big event? I told him he needs to branch out and open a dealership in KS lol. Would people think its crazy if I bought the Cobb from them and asked them if I have a problem if I can come to them for warranty work? I know they tried to sell me one when I left but I know how picky my dealers around here are.

Don has told me in the past that as long as people purchase the Cobb products from him he'll warranty up to a complete Stage 2 package (i.e. if Mitsu corporate denies the warranty the dealership will foot the bill). I know he's installed quite a few Cobb 400S kits too.

Texas MOD is a huge meet, let me know if you want to come down for it and I'm sure we could arrange a bed or couch for you to crash on for the weekend. It's on June 2nd.

I dont see how you can go wrong with a dealership telling you that. A stage 2, is that intake and full turbo back?

Thanks for the invite and place to stay! I will have to run it by my wife when it gets a little closer and let you know. If she would want to go too we would probably just get a hotel. I hate to impose on people.

Do you know if they are okay with people installing their own aftermarket parts: intake, exhaust uicp or do you have to do it there?

Their full Cobb Stage 2 = intake, turboback exhaust, intercooler piping, and an Accessport. They're fine if you install the stuff yourself, as long as it's installed properly.

Sounds great about checking with your wife, keep me posted...she's obviously more than welcome too

Thanks for the info and again I appreciate the invite! I will have to place a call to Don Herring to inquire on pricing

Lol those shirts are pretty cool. I would def order one for her if I can drag her to some meets. Even though I'm not in TX I'm sure you guys would be cool with that. Or maybe she can make it say MWE. Another group I am in, Midwest Evos.

Yep. I got my car from Don Herring Irving as well and talked to them about warranties/mods. They said it only gets hairy if you crack open the longblock or bolt on a turbo.

And Don Jr. was there when I got my car as well, came over to talk to me about Evo's for 30 minutes, lol. He seems like a really cool guy.

It's all about the dealer. I leave mine flashed when I have warranty issues since it runs like hell without it (injectors). My dealership here has never cared, and they warranty what's needed.

Nice to hear about other good ones out there! The dealership can make or break the buying and owning experiences when it comes to certian things. Like with Don Herring I would recommend anyone to them and go back if I need to.

Yeah Don Harring is A Great Guy. I Send everyone i know to him. Hes the only Dealer that i personally know that is down to earth and shoots the **** with you and all customers and has his door always open. Unlike all the money hungry dealerships i HATE out there... I bought my evo there in Aug 2011. Him and finance said im good to go with mods if done right... Don is the only reason I know of EvolutionM and NTEC he told me to check it out. But all in all they said Even Cams Would be fine *IF* Cobb Installed them. And whatever prob that were to ever to come up that werent directly from cams. I dont Have to worry about it. HE said they dont go *looking* for reasons to deny you warranty. When my Wife gets her MR Next Spring thats where im Getting it Hands Down the Best..... Id Drive 7 Hrs too if i had too to get the service you get from them. I was up there 2 weeks ago to get some touch up paint and Don came right up to me and was asking me what mods i have and how i like it. ect...

I think Kracka and a few others already filled in the rest. Very MOD Friendly with people that Love EVOS!
