Friday's are how we started doing the DSM/EVO Shootout back 14 years ago. We are going to try it on Fridays now and see if it grows. If it goes well this year next year might even get a weekend.

Not gonna make it now guys. Auto-x on Saturday, something let go. The temp sky rocketed and coolant blew all over the ground. I already a cometic multi layer put in along with ARPs, that was less than a year ago. I don't know what happened.
I'm pulling the head off and to check it out. At the same time i'll be droppign the tranny to get that rebuilt.
Anyone know what possible happened with my car? I drove home (60mi) and nothign happened. Temp was fine and she ran great.

Hey David
Right now I have a tune by Al and run a s-afc for 'by the butt' adjustment. I've thought about buyign a logger but why waste the money when I'm gonna get a UTEC?
I got the tune on Oct 31. I have been to 4 drag race events since with no issues besides my tranny. The tranny I'm not worried about, I know the problem.
Current fuel mods are 700cc and 255lph
AFC settings are 35% 80%
2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, 5500, 6000, 6500, 7000
I dont' have the car right now, its back home, so I am unable to give the EXACT % correction I have for each trim.
I did do one pull on the way home last night, a 5th gear from 70mph to an amount I'd rather not disclose. But by that time I had turned down the boost to 23psi (from 26). I was tuned on 26psi (stock turbo). She pulled just fine. When I started slowing down I thought I was able to smell coolant. I'm hoping it was from some spilling out in the car out of a leaky cap. So when I got home I flushed the radiator and overflow. There was a MINUTE trace of what looked to be oil in the coolant. But if I blew my HG I would have white smoke and quite a bit of oil and a sky rocketing temp even in normal driving.

ldstang50, sorry about your problems. I'm curious though -- what do you mean by "by the butt" adjustment on the SAFC? You got it tuned by Al and then you leaned it out further based on how the car felt? I guess I'm confused because I thought that your flash was already for race gas Once you figure out the problem, please post what happened. Good luck with a quick recovery.

I was tuned on race gas, but on the street on run pump gas. I get 94 when I can find it.
"By the butt," I do timed runs from 40-100mph on a long open stretch of road. There are times when I feel the car cutting out (too rich, black smoke follows) and I'll make adjustments. Because I was tuned on pump gas, I richen up the car while on pump. My initial settings where +8% across the board, just for a baseline. I have know 'leaned' it out to +5% from 5000rpm and up at high throttle. from 2000-3000 i'm at +2%. Then from 3000-5000 it gradually increases to +5%. This seems to give me the best pull with no cutting out. I probably could lean it out a bit more but I like(d) haveing my car running instead of running too lean and detonating.
My buddy brought up compression tester last night. Then my girlfriends mom went ape so I had to leave and go with her to help her mom. So no testing of the car. I was pissed. Hopefully tonight after seeing the gf's dad I'll be able to do a compression test. I want to do that before I go beating on it tonight.
I'll keep you guys updated. I'll start a new thread so I don't hijack David's thread anymore

Few questions as the time gets closer.

What's the schedule for the day? Gates @ 8, registration, practice, qualifying, eliminations

What about pre-tech/tech?

How are the pit spaces going to be handled? Segmented by class? First come, first serve?

Number of rounds of pratice/qualifying? Top 16 for eliminations?

We'll start there. That should be some good info for everyone.

Ok, thanks.

Guess I'm to accustom to sanctioning bodies. All they have are rules and more rules.
