Thumbs down booo!

hey guys... i had never in my life ran a car at the track.. and then to run an awd turbo car...

well.. anyhoot.. my car is stock except for a perrin catback exhaust.. everything else is stock.. and i need an oil change.. but yeah.. anywayz..

knowing my long list of mods ... i ran the car for the first time tonight.. my reaction was 1.203.. but who cares i wasnt racing anyone.. the 60 ft was 1.971 and my 1/4 was 13.668 with a speed trap of 103.34 and i took off at like 5000 rpms.. i was scared as **** to do it considering i have my stock clutch..

point of this lil thread is i wanna know.. is do i suck? am i alright? i wanna know what the pros think .. i was so nervous out there man.. it freakin sux when ur the only evo that goes to the drag strip.. everyone was like oh **** the evos gonna run.. the announcer dude in the tower up there was like oh we got an evo pulling up to the line lets see what he can do.. so i basically also paniced on that.. but oh well.. just wondering if this time is alright or w/e.. thanx for anyone that helps me out..

Well from my expiences with the evo its your launch. If you do a few quick revs before you launch then you can launch in the 4500 range and get a decent 60ft. Did you do a quick slip? or Drop the clutch @ 5Grand? And where did you shift? 7 or 7500Rpms? I with intake, boost controller, downpipe, exhaust i ran a 12.5 @ 111 60ft was 1.63 Dont worry about reaction time unless ur racin someone or ur doing bracket racing. Your alright. ive seen people with full exhaust dude 13.8 which is HORRIBLE! OIL Change will HELP a BIT! depending on the mileage you can see 15-25WHP!

i semi-dropped the clutch? slipped a lil bit and then dropped it.. and i did it at 5k.. i shifted at 7rpm 1st thru 4th.. and yeah i know my reaction time doesnt matter cuz i was just alone.. but i didnt kno i could lose if i have a worse reaction time than the other person yet i won the 1/4 mile time.. i was tripping over that.. but anywayz.. yeah i only got like 13,500 miles on it..

I do a quick slip @ a little below 5 and which my Sumitomo tires they grip pretty good for All seasons. On you car you just have to find that sweet spot in between 4500-5500rpm But If your on stock clutch have money on the side or wait till you get a new clutch!

In my opinion your time isn't so bad, especially being that this is your first time. I see room for improvement in 60FT, if you launched it really hard you should see a drop in your times from 13.6 to low 13s. Your trap speed is also impressive for just one mod and a cat-back stystem at that. A turboback system could net you alittle more power and you could trap at 104MPH range, in my book that is very impressive especially for one mod and it shows that you have a very strong EVO. So I really don't see any problems, I mean you didn't launch very hard and you still got a decent time and great trap on your first time ever drag racing at the track (with one mod). Dude seriously, a couple more mods, and you take her to the track and launch her very hard a couple of times and your for sure get into the 12s

You did well. Get a flash and rest of that exhaust: 12's easy. And yes, do your homework for a clutch soon. You'll need one sooner or later.

Have fun and good luck!

It's ok to launch the evo clutch. Just dont get accustomed to launching the stocker. Dont be scared next time and shoot for a low 13. Good Luck. Also, the myth of quick revving the car, does nothing.

That ET and traps speeds are not at all bad. The trap speed of 103.xx suggests you have around 240 or more whp !!! That's super for your mods. You can prolly get low 13's with practice as long as the clutch holds up.......

you the think the act street clutch would hold up just as well? i've been lookin to get a new clutch but not so expensive as the exedy twin plate so i could put more power mods into the car..

Good time for you mods on that track. SAR (I guess thats were you are running) is a tuff track to get great times. I run up there quite often. Everytime i head up there it is windy as crap. I was running about the same times with your mods. You could improve your 60' times but you would start to really push your stock clutch. I think you should go with the ACT from my own experence. I have had mine for 10,000 miles and have to say for under $500.00 it kicks a**. I run it on the track once a month and have had no problems.
