Question Evo's racing w/ 18's

Just curious - with all you guys running your Evo's...... how many ppl have gone to 18 inch wheels ?? Secondly, has it hurt your car any as far as performance ?? I was looking at an Evo this weekend and it looks like it could stand having 18's without too much trouble. Am i right ??

my boyfriend has 18s on his sti with a 35 profile tire and has MAD problems getting traction at the drag strip. all his car does is hop because the tires are so narrow. i drove it and had the same problem. the best 60' he can pull is ~2.0. just fyi.

I used to drag with 18's on my galant vr4 (235/40/18).. and was able to get low 1.7 consistantly..Alot of it depends on the size and stiffness of the sidewall of the tire you are using..I kinda liked the idea of spinning through 1st because it was pretty smooth and didn't seem to shock the drivetrain too much..As long as you dont get wheel hop you will be good, wheel hop is the worst for your drivetrain.
