My evo8 at Lapeer dragway, ran a c6 as well there!

On Sunday July 10 me and a few friends went to Lapeer dragway in Michigan. A very hot day, it got well into the 90's and the track didn't start running till 11:00. I just really wanted to get some runs on the car b4 i switch to the w/r turbo shortly.

Well, onto my times. On 94 my best run was actually against a brand new white c6 vette. I talked to the guy and he was pretty kool. He had headers, exhaust and intake. I think that was it. Here is a breakdown of that run

Evo Vette
60ft 1.733 2.22
1/8 et 8.094 8.523
1/8 mph 87.65 93.01
1/4 et 12.570 12.896
1/4 mph 108.79 109.51

they 1/8th mph seem strange, but i don't know, he was pretty much running that all day.

my best time on race gas was as follows...against some slow Nissan altima or something, i won't bother with his times. This was my personal best....of any car I have had, so that felt really good.

60ft 1.646
1/8th et 7.944
1/8th mph 88.18
1/4 et 12.334
1/4 mph 110.32

so thats how the day broke down for me. I was pretty happy considering how ungodly hot it was. I think i could of been flurting with elevens if it was 30 deg. colder, but oh well.

We actually have videos of the day and I am trying to get them from my buddy to host them.

All comments wellcome!

thanks man...i was on a mustang here in Michigan at Payn. It is very low reading, very low.

but it made 267 hp and 272 tq on 94
and 282 hp and 310 on race gas.

don't know what happened to my columns....i had them all aligned and spaced out nicely lol.

yeah it was pretty funny....he was behind me when we were about to race again and said "lets try it again"....saying he cahnged something on his car, then I said "ok fine i just put in my race gas".... then he was like nevermind i want to race this cobra....i said thats fine lol, then I ran my 12.3

actually the only new car out there that went faster than my 12.3 was a z06 with mods and drag radials...he was running 12.0's the whole day.

There weren't that many cars there though...you could pretty much line up against anyone you wanted. This srt-4 was parked next to me with slicks and stage 2 upgrade i smoked him twice.

Good stuff on the driving. You are obviously right about the Mustang reading low, but that's why drag strip timeslips are so valuable...they help validate what kind of power you're really making.

I like the pump and racegas times to use for comparison. I do the same thing. What octane was the race gas? I can only use unleaded (104) due to the stock cat. I'm also very interested in your 12.3@110.xx, because that's right where I was on my last trip. I did manage to get down to 12.22, but it took 6-7 tries at 12.32-12.34 before I finally got a perfect run. On the downside, I never got below a 1.72 60' due to the stock clutch, which brings me to another point. You had a 1.64 60', but then your 1/8th was only a 7.944 (88mph). Did you have trouble on the 1-2 or 2-3 shift? On my 12.22@109, I had a 1.75 60', but had a 7.80 1/8th mile at 88.7mph. Somehow, I overcame a .11s deficit at the 60' and took a .14s lead at the halfway mark (.25s gain), and then we were even on the back half. I'm wondering if this was a matter of shifting speed or gearing (5spd vs 6spd). Either way, nice launching and pretty good driving. I know it's tough to make good power in heat like that.

One last thing, what is your tuning device? I'm wondering if you are able to retune with race gas, because I think I picked up a lot more than 15whp with just the addition of 104, so I think you could do the same if you are able to self-tune. If it's a flash, then you can't without a race gas map...

Nice, I guess it does not take much with our cars for beating those v8 cars! You can definatly drive your evo, with those 60 foot times.

thanks for the kind wods guys.

the race gas was c16. Tom Payn did the tuning on the utec last fall. I just switched maps once i added the good fuel.

I did start out that day having some trouble shifting but at the end of the day I had the launches and shifts going smoothly. shifting around 7200 rpm felt like the right spot. I have been drag racing for a long time...back when they had a Detroit dragway for those that remember that lol.

Oh yeah, i do have an exedy twin which grabs like a *****.

Warrtalon,

You guys don't have VP109 MS where you are at? It is unleaded and I used to run that in the car when I was using the stock cat.
