You were trapping around 96mph or so. I trapped at 101 which is half the difference there. The other thing that I noticed if I remember correctly is your launches were a little weak no offense. On the stock turb you could have been ripping right off the line pretty easily giving you at least real low 1.8's at that track. On a different track you should be able to pull off low 1.7s. Anyways, a little more practice on the launching and your times will be fine. You cant expect any better than a mid 13 at that track honestly when you are stock. Get your car a full exhaust and intake and a new tune and you could hit the 12's for sure even at that crap track.
I'm sure the corolla XRS is FWD.. we think it was running nitrous. How can that thing run 14.2 with just bolt ons.. at least, I hope it was running nitrous or else, I might just trade for a corolla. hehehe.. I kept wondering why you always went against fast cars, it's because they were your buddy.. The best race I saw you with was with that maroon 240. it ran a 12.6 and you got a 12.3.

After reviewing the video i shot, you definetly were having problems shifting after the launch.. you'd shoot out of the hole than kinda bog and then shoot back up again until the end of the 1/4..

I believe in my car, just not in the driver. to get in the 13's.

I kept my foot on the clutch slipping a little until I felt the car jump ahead. Also, I was on 91 non-oxgenated gas.

Good thing was I beat every car that i went up against because luckily I raced some slow cars.. hehehehe.. did lose to a bike that ran 12.333. Can't wait to get down pipe, test pipe, boost gauge, mbc then finally a reflash...
7k is well below redline. You are right that power starts to fall off after 6.5k for the most part on the stock turbo, but you still do make really good power above 6500, and if you take it to 7200-7300, then you ensure that you're in the middle of the powerband in the next gear. If you shift too early, then you have to respool in the next gear.

Btw, 91 octane makes a huge difference. I had no idea Minnesota only sold **** gas, so that is another major factor in your times/mph being so low. Yes, the launch will make your ETs better, but the mph is an indication of your HP and won't change dramatically with better 60's.

**** gas?? does that mean 10% ethanol? hahaha... I think most if not all stations here are required to mix 10% ethanol to all gas.. What's better 91 non oxygenated or 93 with ethanol??

Okay..sorry about that unworking link.. here's a new link http://www.putfile.com/media.php?n=Evo-launch <<<--- this was my very first time launching the car.. It's no indication of a brag just poking fun of myself and maybe some of you guys will remember if this happened as well.

needless to say, I didn't get any G-Tech times recorded...

I don't know anything about the ethanol stuff, since I've never heard of that. I just know that 91 is not nearly as good as 93 and will glean less whp due to more knock at a given afr/boost.

whoa, my first launch wasn't even that bad, I never dumped my clutch yet either, still on the stocker and running strong! I think you revved to high and dumped it, you were supposed to feather it out really really quick til u feel it engage then let go completely and as you let go stomp on the gas and let it fly 8- )

This may or may not help, but I called BP (British Petroleum) asking them why 3 different BP gas stations in my town (Eau Claire-just 10 miles from the drag strip you were at) all list different octane levels for their Amoco Ultimate-91, 92, 93. I asked him which one was correct. He said all BP gas stations in Wisconsin should be selling 93 octane as their Ultimate gas and he would check into it.

It might be 10% ethanol because he asked if there was an ethanol sticker on the pumps. I said no. (I believe in Wisconsin it's a law to inform the consumer of ethanol.)

I didn't get a definitive answer to my question, but in case he's right you might want to get gas in Wisconsin at a BP gas station and maybe you'll get 93 octane. The owner at the gas station where I get my gas told me his is definitely 93, but what's he gonna say?

Because I've gotten gas in Minnesota before I asked him about BP there. I told him I never saw 93 there. He said that indeed Minnesota doesn't have it, but I don't recall him saying what octane it was. I thought I had gotten 92 there before.

There's 93 octane here, just a few.. the shell here has 92 premium v-power gas. There's a place by Elk River I believe that sells racing gas 100+ octane..

The BP guy must've just been talking about BP not carrying 93 in MN. I don't know if he knows. I'm still waiting to hear back from him on why everyone here carries different octane ratings for the same "Ultimate" gas.

BTW, if you can get 93 in MN, get it there. As you might know MN gas prices are a lot lower than in WI.

ethanol is a corn derivative. the gas is "supposed" to be a cleaner burning version with the ethanol in it, although it screwed up my moms caddy sts. i grew up on a farm and my parents own stock in a couple of ethanol plants in the same state.

didnt think this information would ever be posted on here. lol
