I don't think Dan short shifted the car, I think it was just spinning so hard that when he did shift the car bogged. He does lift COMPLETELY on each pass, no sense in tearing the car up

wow
i have never heard of anyone pulling 10's without WOT shifting.
did i read that correctly?

does Al and the rest of the fast evo's WOT shift?

could someone clear up a rumor...
i had heard that (if done properly) WOT shifting was easier on a car than normal shifting when racing.

I don't know how the other guys shift, I would imagine they lift but I don't know. The only way I would agree that WOT shifting is easier on the car is if you had some type of interupt switch to kill the engine between shifts.

With a trap of 141mph, it shouldn't be to hard to run somewhere in the 10's without WOT shifting as long as you are getting a good launch. No lift shifting, WOT, power shifting or whatever it is labeled is definitely harder on the car as you are basically dumping/popping the clutch everytime you shift. Also you will be revving the engine high between the shift, possibly hitting the rev limiter, if you do not have a switch like David mentioned to limit RPM between gears while the car is moving. Most switches limit the RPM to a number where your next gear would typically start. This helps prevent the dumping effect but still keeps your RPM and boost although it is still harder on the drivetrain. The fastest way to shift is not using the clutch at all (true power shifting) but is also the most abusive and hardest to do. Not many people can do a true power shift at WOT and neither could most stock transmissions.
