I agree with Warrathalon. You should do better shifting higher than 6500 in 3rd. But best thing to do is just try different things like Nad1370 is suggesting and see what produces the best results. Report back with what works so others can learn. Wartalon gives good advice, but some cars are more knock prone than others and respond differently to different things, so do what works for your car.

Yeah, what Warrtalon said is a good start. Figure tire pressures for the day. Shift at least 7200, to setup the next gear. Mostly just get practice with the car.

Things NOT TO DO:
1) Do NOT short-shift 3rd. That's just plain dumb.
2) Do NOT lower your tire pressure to avoid wheel hop.
3) Do not shift anywhere near 7600, 7800, or 7900. Also, don't shift before 7000.

Things TO DO:
1) After you launch, choose the rpm that's easiest for you to shift to 2nd. This happens so fast that you can't really "choose" an rpm. You have to do it at the point it feels right in order to engage 2nd quickly and smoothly without missing a beat.
2) Shift at ~7200-7300 in 2nd and 3rd, since you still make good power there and since that will put you in the sweet spot in the next gear.
3) Keep it where it is, and then adjust it according to whether you spin or not. If you spin, lower it. If you get wheel hop or continually bog despite launching at higher rpms, then raise the pressure.
Thanks, you are probrably right on the 7200, Im getting spoiled by the 280's and my 8300 rpm rev limit.

i was shifting at 7600 or higher all through gears and best MPH i got was 106 but once I started to shift at exactly 7000-7200 i was getting 108 once 109 so I think best shift point is like Warranton said 7200. But if you have cams I would think higher than 7200

Yes, with cams, 7400-7500 is probably better...maybe even higher with 280s.
