'05 Clutch In Rev Limiter

Autocross is my weekend sport of choice. We have to launch hard just like you drag racers because we too are playing a game of 10th's or 100th's of a second.

I hate the '05's clutch in 5K rev limiter. How do I get rid of it??

I have developed a sort of a technique but it's no where as quick a launch that I see from an '04 Evo competitor.

I posted this same question in the Motor Sports forum and got 2 opinions. One was disconnect the sensor wire from the clutch pedal but the other said don't do it because it causes the engine to run lean. So I didn't.

Help............what can be done to get rid of this silly rev limiter?

Thanks

Jim H.

ps. I did a search and didn't find anything.

I know this sounds vague, but it is the top connector on the clutch pedal. It's a black plastic connector. Just disconnect it and your in bidness.

Be prepared to shed some blood in the tight quarters. It is well worth it. My 60' s went from 1.8x to 1.6x. Hope that helps.

same here, i've been using this thing for too long. I disconnected a wire from the clutch pedal but that didn't do anything but make my car start without the clutch.

Thanks guys, but is there any truth to the opinion that it causes the engine to run lean?

Yup, it is very helpful if you have a headlight (not on your car) a light that fits on your head.

Or maybe you ar egood with a flashlight while contorted under the dash panel. (I am not!)

Folloe it ALL THE WAY UP. And disconnect.

Sickley, Before going out and getting those 1.7's make sure you have $$$ set aside for a new clutch. Good luck

Guys, thanks for the help. And the search using "5000" helped too with the pictures.

No one seems to be concerned with the thought that disconnecting the clutch switch will cause the car to run lean so I'll go for it. What the heck, I've got 97,000 miles and 117 months of warranty left.

An easy way of seeing what your doing is removing the fuse panel. It pops right out and you can see what your unplugging up there. Takes me less than 20 seconds to disconnect the limiter.
