Best ACD setting for the strip?

We just got an 05 and I was wondering what it should be set at for the strip. I have always just left it on tarmac. But It seems to really spin the front tires when launching. I thought the 05 would launch much better than our 03 because of the front LSD. But it seems like the 03 actually spun less out of the whole than the 05 does? Has anyone else experienced this?

thanks

The FLSD just helps when dealing with tirespin while cornering. When launching, both front tires have equal power distribution. As far as the ACD is concerned, spinning in first would only get worse if you changed it from Tarmac.

I thought it would be better to have it on the gravel setting because it puts more power to the rear wheels isnt that better for launching?

Tarmac puts the most to the rear. Technically, it's always 50/50, but the ACD settings change the point at which the diff locks. Tarmac is immediate while the other 2 are increasingly delayed, which makes it act more like a FWD...first with Gravel and then moreso with Snow.

I have been in a grumpy mood lately, sorry

It just sucks for alot of the people that do want to learn more about thier cars but get fed a ton of false information. That is why there are so many strange rumors and stupid ideas that people follow. Too many people that don't know try to answer questions. People should just let the people that truly know, aswer the questions. There would be much less theories floating around. Luckily for you other people did answer with knowledgable answers but imagine if they didnt.. or they did but without a good explanation. You would be at the track telling the car to put more power to the tires that are spinning and never run worth a crap.

gravel i believe is 60/40
and snow is 70/30.

I thought they are

tarmac 100/0 to 50/50 variable
gravel 50/50 locked
and snow is 70/30 locked

Correct me if I'm wrong but this is what I read from some magazine (don't ask me which one cuz I don't remember)

It's always 50/50...always. The ACD settings just change the point at which the diff locks. I've never seen those ratios you mentioned.

Understandable.

Thanks for the info. I appreciate it

It would be nice to have a t-case that sent more power to the rears.

Well you could in theory. It would make it 100% rear though. If you lock it with a welded viscous and made some sort of a way to block the oil from leaving the tranny and such you could toss out the front axles therefore sending all the power to the back obviously. Not really what you meant but it is the only way.
