1400 what...whp? It took the VW-Bugatti engineers almost 6 years and huge amounts of money to develop the 1001 crank hp Veyron and now I find out that there're Scions out there pushing four hp figures. Sure. I bet these Scions are as fast as the cars featured on the Fast & Furious, like the 450 whp Supra TT running high 14's

Scion goes racing.
Toyota's youth brand to campaign two drag cars.
by Justin Kaehler

June 3, 2005 - Scion has just revealed that it is entering the motorsports arena. However, it's not entering the hype-filled world of drifting. Instead, the company is opting to go into drag racing. The company is also not going to use its iconic xB as a drag vehicle. That makes sense, as an xB will never be considered "aerodynamic". Instead, Scion will use its "America-only" model, the tC.

Drag racing? We guess that Scion is afraid of turning left or right.

Ha! We kid Scion. While we may be bandwagon-jumping JDM-approved drift/JGTC-loving ******, we can't deny the popularity of drag racing. Well, actually... we can. No one in southern California seems to drag race anymore, as everyone in SoCal has jumped on the drift bandwagon. But our friends on the east cost tell us that driving really fast in a straight line is still popular over there. We'll take their word for it and check out the Scion drag cars.

Scion will be campaigning two cars in the NDRA Xbox Event series this year, with the cars making their debut at Moroso Motorsports Park in Florida. Scion has selected drag racing "bad boy" Christian Rado and Leslie "I'm not related to Fred" Durst.

While we like to make fun of drag racing around here, we really have to give props to these cars. Rado's car is a beast: this front-drive Scion tC runs on methanol and produces a whopping 1,200 horsepower from its 2.7 liter 3RZFE engine. The drag car only weighs 2,000 pounds, so you know this is gonna be one hell of a fast ride.

Unfortunately, that is not the Scion TC engine. Their original engine is a 2AZ-FE, not a 3RZ-FE, so it doesn't apply. The only thing on that drag car related to a Scion TC is the name.

Well like War said... doesnt matter because the good drag cars dont have anything to do with the original car but take a look at Titan's car I think it runs mid 6's and has the name of a Scion.

Well at least the 3RZ-FE is a Toyota 4 cylinder engine as is the 2az-fe,just the 3rz is found in the trucks and the 2az is found in the Camry/Scion TC,but both are current production low HP motors that are very readily available. The 3RZ is now a Proven 1000+ HP capable engine, the 2AZ is not,at least yet

are you serious??? There are civic motors making 1000whp dude. You cant compare the 2. The civic that makes 1000whp only makes the power in high rpm's, is insanely loud, has a driveline that is hard on the back, no real power band, no driveability etc...

bugatti could have 1000hp in a race car easily, but they wanted a reliable decently quiet 1000hp car that could pass some sort of emissions and be driveable. making huge numbers isnt the hard part. its making them reliably with good driveability and being able to hear yourself think.

BTW that bugatti is the GOD of all cars for 1000 other reasons too. I read the article on it and my jaw was on the floor. def a sick car.

I can say that my tC is one of the highest HP tCs being daily driven.

At 8.7 psi I made 245WHP and 255WTQ. I ran a 13.8@103 without the traction I really needed. When i put on 20PSI drag radials I snapped an axle and the tracks closed for the winter the following week.

The car is very fast and hits 130 in about 20 seconds or so form a dead stop.

Using a Turbonetics custom T3/T04B with Tial 38mm Wastegate, Tial BOV, Hybrid performance FMIC, 2.5" Custom Random tech turbo-back exchaust with a high flow cat. I'm using the Greddy Emanage for fuel management.

All custom built, took about 4 months after everything. Supporting mods are the obvious gauges, an ACT Street clutch (341wtq holding capacity), and other misc items.

Hopefully that proves I'm not BS'ing. BTW - I work for Dezod Motorsports. I used my tC for the test car and we sell the complete kit for $4075 now.

I'm buying an Evo again guys so I'm getting rid of this project so I can go back to my favorite lol... I had an 03 GSR in white but needed money at the time. A big promotion allows me to buy a new Evo again.
