Not many have made the trip to the drag strip unfortunately, but hopefully this will begin to change in the near future. The few that have ran have all been impressive in my opinion. I believe one ran a stock 12.8@106mph or 107mph, but time was met with much controversy, so I decided to leave that one off the list, especially since the name of the owner of the car was never revealed. Another one just recently ran a 12.9@105mph and another (Switzer) has ran 13.0@106mph I believe. Precision Dyno Tuning also took their IX which had a MBC, Catback-Exhaust, Down Pipe, and Flash to the strip and ran a 12.7@110mph and they missed a shift (that really pisses me off). Hopefully in the near future more EVO IXs will make it to the strip.

Are these 12-sec bone stock Evos launching with the 5k rev limiter on?

My best friend Carlos (fromWRXtoEVO) raced his girlfriend's stock Evo IX last weekend (Tucson) and was only able to manage 14.2 at 99.9 mph on his best run (1 out of 2). He told me that he couldn't launch the car properly with that device on. His 60' times were terrible, 2.5 sec I think. He is an excellent driver (12.48 @ 110 with his MR and 1.7/1.8 average 60's) and has a lot of experience drag racing awd cars.

Carlos just couldn't figure it out. The same thing happened to me when I first took the MR to the track. Out of 3 tries, two of them were 2.4 60's, because I was trying to do my normal feathering technique only to accidentally get hit by the 5k limiter just as the lights were dropping. Strangely, on my first of the 3 tries, I cut a 1.92 en route to a 13.1 @ 104. I know that even then, if I knew how to disconnect the limiter, I could have hit a 1.7x 60', which was good enough for a 12.99. Since the IXs are trapping even higher, they can hit 12s with just 1.8 60's...
