Maybe 300 HP stock versus 2003-2004 Evo 271 hp, I don't know.... Seems to make a difference in my book. Unless you drive a Subie and have extensive driving experience with one, I don't believe you are qualified to really judge the subies even from a distance. If it is an Evo, different story and preach on.
Well I respect you, but the facts are the facts. I can't help it if most STi drivers cannot drive well at the strip. Well here at our local track we rarely see Evo's do better than low 14's to high 13's modded or not. I have been flamed on a regular basis stating to the guys at the track that Evo's and Sti's for that matter are fast. It wasn't until last year that the Evo's here(modded) finally got into the 11's. My STi regularly did high 12's until my car vanished(long story). So all this rubbish about slow STi drivers and Slobaru's need's to stop. We all know very well the plus's and minuses of both. The argument is old. You stand behind what you know and experience as do I. When the STi first came out here (a TV show that regularly does car test's ) got the STi down to high 12's and the Evo down to almost a 13 flat stock after many runs and practice launches. I had this recorded on my DVR box until it flopped and I had to exchange it to Time Warner a couple of years ago.
Point is, there are always exceptions it just seems that there is a select few in the Evo community that seems to be always downing someone. I'm glad I am not this way. If it's fast, I like it. Also it has been stated many times, most STi guys don't care about drag racing like the Evo guys do. Do you ever stop to think this is why many STi drivers do so poorly at the strip? I am among a select few who can drive the STi to it's potential, but I also don't really care for drag racing cars that were designed for offroad racing and road courses and not created for 1/4 mile runs

No, because it's just an excuse. It's not like they can fall back on autocrossing and road racing, because they fall short of the Evo there, too.

Why does there have to be an excuse, what possible reason would there be? The STi does not suck in any shape or form itself. The drivers do, but that is from my experience. I really don't know what to tell you then. You seem to know everything about all the subie drivers. Most I know could care less about any racing and when they try autocross, track and drag they suck bad. I am an exception, and I still don't care about autocross or drag just road course.

I'm done wasting time, I have parts for the Evo to look up so I can make it more fun than it already is.

BTW, who won the runoffs last year? Excuses from the other side where a plenty. http://www.subdriven.com/news/publis...icle_413.shtml

Hey guys,

Some guy in an STi challenged me about a week ago at the track and we tied! I think it was like 13.0. He was running that number all night long too. I usually do better, but was having a bad night... which happens.

Back on topic:
Cuban, let us know when you're back and accpet that hoser's challenge! Be sure to get some video! If you beat him with your lightly modded car, he'll be pissed for spending so much on all his mods!! ROFL!!

Well just let me know when you get back CUBANEVO, my dear pal..... andfor all you haters out there.....i will undoubtedly win this race......i am just putting CUBANS car to the test.....if its as fast as he says it is, then i shouldnt be pulling away by too many cars lengths, and if that happens to be the case then i will give him his props and the proper respect he is due...but not until then..... everyone stay posted for the latest details on this race...to be continued...

Plenty of excuses from Evos? Kinda like the fact that there were about 10 Subies for every Evo, if not worse? I personally know 2 road racing instructors who compete in SCCA events with their DSMs and who bought Evo IXs after seeing how easy it would be to win in T2 after last year's results and after hearing my results in my lightly-modded 05. If Subies take 1st and 2nd again this year with the influx Evos, I will be impressed.

You won't be pulling away by car lengths at the drag strip unless you're running 11s. A car running 12.1 vs a car running 12.5 is hardly any difference in distance at the end of the track. Maybe a car length or two depending on the difference in reaction times.

Reaction times make dragging really cool when you're actually racing someone and not just going for your personal best times. I usually leave on the second to the last yellow light and by the time I release I end up with a .1 or lower time.

That STi I mentioned earlier and I may have tied with times, but my reaction was better so I won!

I have a subscription with 8 US/Euro car magazines: C&D, R&T, MT, SCC, Car, Autopista, Automovil and Coche Actual; therefore I'm aware of the STI's acceleration capabilities. Read again my post and notice how childish your reply was.

there was nothing "childish" about my reply... I was being questioned about something and i got defensive. which is not that uncommon to happen.... oh and by the way just because you have magazines on something it doesnt make you an expert on the subject.

Like so many people have said it is all in the driver and maybe hes just a better one. When I got my Evo last year it was the first AWD turbo car I had ever driven and in my first trip to the track my first run was a 13.2, my second was a 12.5@100 that I let off cause I broke out, and my third was a 12.3@108. Thats with the mods I have in my sig, with a 9.8 hotside, and 92oct pump.

Without a slip it is hard for him to prove but it is possible. There was an '05 Evo at the track for the FNSR which had all my mods + cams and I was beating him by 2-3 car lengths. Was his car faster, probably, was I a better driver, yes.

You're right, you have a tendency to get defensive...

FYI, I'm not an expert. Since you stated that I didn't know what I was talking about, I tried then to explain to you that I was fully aware about the STI's performance/facts/numbers/figures/specs since I get eight different automobile publications every month...
Once again, I never saw any stock STI running 12's at the drag strip. This FACT does not questions your claim about stock STI's capable of running 12.8s all day long. Sorry to hurt your feelings but I haven't witnessed it yet.
