I need an explanation...maybe not

I went to Capitol Raceway today and did 2 runs on 93 oct. Very dissapointing. How can I hit and 1.75 60' Time and end up with a 13.08@105.52. One reason that I know of is the Blowoff valve, which in the middle of third gear stalled and may have caused this. On the second run I killed the launch ended with a 13.31 @107.62. I am still not getting this. I expected the car to be a little faster since I have pulled on several individuals that run mid 12 runs. Here the stats on the runs. The only explanation I can think off is that I was really a crappy driver today.

Run 1
60'....1.751
1/8....8.342
MPH...80.88
1/4....13.08
MPH...105.52

I gained 25 MPH between my 1/8 and 1/4 trapspeeds but It is still crappy.

Run 2

60'....1.969
1/8....8.597
MPH...81.78
1/4....13.31
MPH...107.62

This time I gained 26 MPH in the back half and it was even worse. I really think that thaGreddt type S BOV has a lot to do with it too. Can someone explain to me that I am doing wrong also.

Thanks...

I have a 03 evo also, I ran a 13.7 stock in washington. I don't get how you have your car with all those mods, and can't break into the 12's. that is really depressing. All I can say is check and see if you have a boost leak. What are your hp #'s maybe that would help if you would post a graph of your last dyno pull..

I have ran a 12.5 at 106 before. Shift around 7300 and do it quickly. Just a thought

Here is a dyno graph of the one before last. This one is 328/330 the last one was 333/339, but I can't find it right now. I Personally think it's a boos leak from the Type S...

I think you answered your own question. Try putting the stock DV or the JDM MR DV back on. Sounds like you have a leak somewhere, just start eliminating what could be causing it. Check all your IC hoses also. A boost leak test will tell you a lot. Good luck with getting her runing right.

IMO

get rid of the BOV and get a JDM MR DV/ IX DV

Shift faster, you can always shift fast (most of the time).

Your mph indicate your car is not properly functioning. For those mods, at least 85-86mph would be expected in 1/8 trap. Perhaps boost leak or the mentioned BOV (if interested in DIY cheap BOV - see below).

I actually modded my stock plastic BOV to hold 1-2 psi more with no fluttering simply by inserting 4-5 screws on the end to tighten the spring (1/8" of travel) then encasing the area with epoxy (My variation to the posted how-to mod). I did this because I allready have the Forge RS and wanted to do R/D - I actually like it more.

yeah man, your 1/8th mile is way low... it looks like in 4th gear you make some ground up... there is definitely something between 1st and 4th gears...

When I was trapping 107, I trapped over 85 in the 1/8th... I think you could EASILY knock .5 seconds off the time, all in the first 1/8th if you get that resolved!

How do you have the BOV set up? Is it recirc'd and what spring are you running in it?

I would recommend the boost leak test. That should tell you where your leaks are if there are any. Compression test wouldn't be a bad idea too. What boost are you running and what was your AFR? Do you have logs from the AEM? How much knock?

First, it's not the tuner. The car is tuned great! It's the driver and the car.
Second, the car did a double hesitation in the middle of the first run. I was on the way to a good run. I think the BOV was the culprit.
Third, I am running 26 PSI with the Alky, however all he safeties in the EMS are on so there wasn't ant knock and the AFR's are 12.2's.
The car runs very well on the street and it pulls like a beast. I just don't understand how I could kill my track runs like that, but I did.

Maybe the thread title should read "I couldn't get my 11 sec Evo to do better than 13 because of my BOV and shifting"
