Sounds like you're absolutely killing the clutch by riding it for way too long. Then, it even seemed as if you bogged after finally releasing. You have to do a very quick slip to the point that it almost breaks loose the tires.
THis is how you slip from 6k:
Warrtalon's 12.000

Did you pull around the water box or through it? If you pull through it, go just until your back tires are past and then do a quick (not a full dump but faster than you are doing now) to clean off the tires and heat them up a bit. Then do the same thing at the line. Make sure your tire pressure is down around 23-24psi (once you get it down and start breaking loose). You should be in the low 1.7's or high 1.6's.
I do what Trevor said, too. I go through the water, then do a quick burnout to clean off the tires, but I also do it to get an idea of how much traction I'm getting. I've had times where I tried to burn out and my tires hooked. That's when I knew I could get away with as hard a launch as I wanted. Other times, I've lit all 4 tires up like I was on a hockey rink. In those cases, I knew I'd be lucky to pull a 1.6 and would only be able to do it with a perfect launch that had no slip, no bog, and no spin.
