Need help, first time at the strip

It was a horrible night to go, 30mph winds directly in the face . I knew as soon as we got there it would suck! We just drove an hour to get there, so that's why we didn't turn around. I went 4 times and all 4 times was bad! Here is an example of one timeslip.

Me: 60ft 2.031 buddy: 1.923
330: 5.734 5.711
1/8: 8.825 8.885
mph: 79.93 78.49
1000' 11.521 11.642
1/4: 13.818 13.959
mph: 97.94 98.41

I know, sucky launch! All 4 launches were 1.92 to 2.03. What I don't understand is why my trapspeeds are so low? I was running as far as I could see 19-16 psi. My MBC is stuck so I couldn't get any more power out of it. My trapspeeds should still be higher shouldn't it? I know my driving wasn't very good. All my times were from 13.71 to 13.9x and my trapspeeds were from 96.x to 98.96. The guy I got the car from said it will probably need a clutch upgrade soon! It doesn't feel like it is slipping.

Oh BTW the other car in this comparison is an 05 MR with TBE, 02 housing and manifold. It was his first time out there as well. He actually trapped higher than me overall. He just missed 100mph. Any help would be good, thanks.

Thats slightly worse than stock. Did you check to see if you have a massive boost leak or anything?

It wasn't hot, but really really windy. All the cars there were running much slower! My buddy never broke 13.8 on 5 tries.

With my mods even on lower boost it should still trap higher?

As someone metioned earlier boost leak test your car. I would bet you have a huge leak some where in the system. If you are not up for making a tester, at the least make sure all your clamps are tight. You should be in the mid to high 12's with the mods you have listed and trapping closer to 108-111.

With no mods, it should trap higher than that. Did you buy it used with all that stuff? If so, you probably have a lot of troubleshooting to do and will be the poster-child for why not to buy a used Evo that is modded.

You should trap around 110 with those mods, but of course altitude, weather conditions, and octane play a part. My guess is that in Kansas, you are anywhere from 1000-3000' above sea level and only use 91oct, right? Also, saying your boost is 19->16 and that it's stuck really doesn't sound right, so there's another problem there. The MBC does not get stuck.

First thing you should do is go to Advanced Auto and get a set of NGK BPR7ES (#2023), then gap them to .026. After that, make a boost leak tester using this link:

http://vfaq.com/mods/ICtester.html

After doing a pressure test, fix all the leaks, then explain this whole "my MBC is sticking" thing. That's not something I've heard of before, especially with a Hallman.

I meant that the controller won't turn clockwise or counterclockwise to up the boost. I did buy the car with cams and cam gears, injectors. It also has a horrble cold idle for the first 3 minutes every time I start the car. The thing will stall unless I hold the throttle down a little bit. I know I have some problems . Thanks for the ideas, I will do my best to get it figured out.

are you loosening the lock nut on the boost controller? and those kind of driveability problems definitely will effect top end performance. that and a 30 mph headwind

Unless it's an old Hallman, it doesn't have a lock nut.

Definately have some kind of problem. I ran a 13.33 @ 105 mph with just RMR upper and lower ICP, intake, and an SAFC-II.

It's partly your driving, by looking at your timeslip.
your slower out of the hole then your buddy, then trap higher in the 1/8th mile
then he traps higher in the quarter.
