topspeed evo vs non-topspeed evo video
Hey Madricky (Matt),
I got the opportunity to hang out with Doug last night as he was tuning STIs at Tuning Technologies in Southern California. He's a helluva cool guy and we took a trip down memory lane with all the Boost Solutions days and when IE Evo and I were always going back and forth with you and your boys. We had some good laughs and I just wanted to let you know that I wish you well with your car. It is certainly in good hands with Doug.

Hey there smoghuffer
,
Nice to see there are some OGs still on here. Some day my car will be done and you are right it will be nice. Hopefully someday we all will meet and have some beers now that we have some built beasts to talk about. I don't know if Doug told you, but my car has been down forever due to this highspeed machinest who has done a number on my block. I'll drop you a line when it gets up. I actually think it will be soon so we shall see. Take care of yourself.

Hey, how the heck did you get 80 more whp at 27 psi? That was a 40R right?? Anyway, Doug says that your car will indeed be a beast soon enough. We all tipped back a lot of Fat Tire Ale (brewed in Ft Collins) at Hoo..... Great scenery. The most interesting part of the night was listening to Doug talk about STI ECUs and their safeguards. It sounds like he's got those Subies wired (as we saw in One Lap).
Smog,
I'm actually running a custom Innovative turbo that was designed for Gio's car initially, but he changed his mind and wanted to go much smaller. We didn't get to do too many pulls so that 611 at 27psi was nothing. It was just a breakin pull. All I know is that when Doug started seeing how much power it was putting down with little boost and a bit of timing, he was quite amazed. He kept saying "how much does it say?", and kept giggling. He even got on the phone and started callind some of the "important" people to brag. I guess the turbo doesn't wake up till 30psi or more and I think he's gonna push it to 40psi so we shall see. I don't want to make any "outlandish" predictions yet, but reguardless at 611 it felt quite nice. It's not gonna be a 900whp car, but it will be up there and I have a pretty nice band eventhough I have a larger turbo. I can tell you that it is so loud I can't bare it. The thing sounds like a freakin V12 on crack. I'll keep you posted, but I'm not into the whole I'm faster than you thing any more
I just enjoy the whole power thing and like seeing what others do as well. I've see a couple handfulls of 35r builds all of which I thought were great eventhough they are the same turbo. That turbo seems to be the best streetable turbo by far. My car drives OK, but takes forever to warmup and is a maintanence nightmare due to all the fuel lines and BS. Doug has definetly made a name for himself after all the BS solutions crap and is looked at highly in the tuning world. I'm quite proud of him because just yesterday we were sneakin upgrades in on eachother to get the edge. Doug did get our cars in the 11s quite early in the game so I always knew that he would be the man some day and slowly but surely he's proving that. He had many good things to say about you and I laughed and said I figured he was a cool guy. Only the cool people argued about nothing back in 03
I don't dare try to get into it with anyone anymore as I think it is gay and I have much more important things to do. Well the engine made it to Topspeed today so I will let you know what it puts down after they get it runnin again. Hopefully it runs for more than a day this time.
Take care and will talk soon.
