New times with clutch+Licp

Before i ran 12.8 at 108 with 272's, 10.5 hotside, ebay o2 housing, hks exhaust, helix dp+hfc, works drop in, and AMS custom flash, also hall man boost controller on 93 octane 22 psi.
Here are the numbers
R/T .220
60' .1.874
330 5.294
1/8 8.189
MPH 86.06
1000 10.709
1/4 12.803
MPH 108.04

Now all ive added is a new exedy twin plate + HPF licp

times weren't that much greater the best time was

R/T .535
60' .1.835
330 5.270
1/8 8.141
MPH 85.14
1000 10.628
1/4 12.737
MPH 107.91

from that data what looks like the problem, its probably my driving/shifting. Also i made 307/301 on AMS dynojet.

No, your driving and shifting look fine. You could definitely use a better 60', but that's not going to change the fact that you're still only trapping 108mph. What's holding you back is that you're not making any power. 108mph traps are what most Evos make with exhaust/mbc/flash. I think your car just isn't one of the strong ones, because you have a good mod combo, and a good tuner, but not much power.

Thats very true! His car should be 110+ with cams, i went 110 with stock clutch and stock cams..He might be able to pull 1 more mph but its still low for those mods

Something is off cause with 272's , Exhuast , BC @ 20.5 droping to 17psi by redline and drop in I ran a 12.3 @ 112 and I was untuned. I would figure with what you have you should be at 112-114

next time ill do a boost leak check, also im really not feelling my high flow cat and hks catback it tapers which is probably causing backpressure, my buddy yesterday was running 12.8's with 1.6 and 1.7 60' times at 108. he has simiiar mods except without 10.5 hotside, o2 ebay housing, but he does have air intake+testpipe and AMS 3 inch exhaust. Sucks to hear i have a weak evo cant really fix that.

No I think its your exhaust. Get rid of that cat and make sure its a true 3in tbe. I cant impress upon you enough how much of a difference it makes.

Backpressure is good but not too much. However, I would check for leaks and definitely get rid of that cat.

Its more then just his exhaust because I have almost the exact same setup minus the 10.5 hotside and I have 272/264 cams and I ran the time in my sig at 2250ft elev. The cat could be making a bit of a difference but not .7-.8 and 7mph. I would check for a boost leak for sure. Either something else is going on or you got a really weak car. What did AMS say when they tuned it and it only pulled 307whp?

  1. Learn to launch and shift a little smoother
  2. Fix all leaking joints
  3. For Pete's sake get a tighter WG actuator (I still need to do that)
This will give you a 1.78 60', 7.9 @ 89mph, 12.4 @ 112 and for dyno a 307/301 again

His shifting is fine, and he has no need for a tighter WGA. The launch needs help and he needs about another 30-40whp (without adding mods).

Buddy of mine dynoed 309/312 at AMS's dyno and ran 12.5@111 with a H/F cat.
So the cat isn't holding you back.

Your loosing power on the top end.

Got a dynosheet ?

He Might be running too much boost and the ECU is pulling timing in 3rd or/and 4th gears!
My car traped 110- 111 at 19-20Psi 21-23psi i was hittin 16 degrees @ 7000 rpms! But HEY im on stock ecu and a SAFC.

Ams didn't really know what the problem was, they said i was short about 10-15 whp, all i can say is i hope its not a weak evo, im going to check for boost leak, any one got a quick method or link to a boost leak test? As for a dyno sheet goes i have a picture of one here maybe hard to see, any idea of when i should be shifting, probably sooner then 7500 rpm since im not making more power up there.
link https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=191075 its on page two.

You came up with the best answer to your problems. Boost Leak test your car first then work from there. You can lose a crap load of power with a boost leak. After that do a quick compression test. My bet is that you have a nice size leak some where in your piping.

Yeah, if you've never done a boost leak test, then I guarantee you have at least one leak somewhere and likely many. I found 4 the first time I checked.

If you're shifting anywhere near 7500, you should probably start trying 7100. 272s should allow you to shift higher, but if it's not working, change it up.
