first time at the track!! evo vs hemi!

going to the track soon,
me and my co-working are going to the track next week. he bets up and down that he can beat my evo. i have a evo gsr ix (bone stock) and he has a
2006 dodge ram 1500 with a v8 hemi, supposbly he said he has a chip and catback and hes running about 500hp. i dont belive it , anywho, if we run a 1/4 mile , should i be able to take him? also his truck is auto matic and im a fair driver.

Wait, 500 hp with a chip and cat-back? Unless he has a SRT-10 (which is a V10) or has a supercharger, he is lying and you will win. Heres a better idea though, challenge him to a lap on a road course and see what he says. The Evo is not a drag car, I cant stress that enough...

Ha thats funny. My friend has a truck with a HEMI in it. Its nothing great. I've been in it when hes floored it. If your friend is so sure he can beat you tell him to put money on it.

Haha i wish i had my videos of my bone stock IX vs the SRT10 ram at the track... they were running 14.3 all day if they were lucky.. The autos are HORRBILE and cant get out of their own way off the line..

I wouldnt get cocky, but i wouldnt be nervous if i were you.. Im a fair driver and i got a 13.06 @ 106.7 mph.... soooo i think you got him..

dude... most hemi-loving hillbillies don't even know what HEMI means. They just know it refers somehow to the glory days of american muscle and think it means some kind of superpower that the car is magically endowed with - good marketing I say. IMO, it has lost all meaning. It's like the Camaros of the 80s --- so what?... [/rant]

However when I went to the 1/8mile track (modded), the car that actually was closest to me was a Ford Lightning. I don't know if he was chipped or anything, but I beat a bunch of cars pretty soundly and yet that dude was right on my tail. Don't underestimate it!

you shouldn't have a problem beating him. it all comes down to the driver though, I've seen evos run 15s so you never know...

Make sure you do some research on how to launch (search). You will beat him with your low 13 second time to his mid 14 second time if you can drive OK.

well ive seen a magnum wagon hemi with chip, exhaust run 14.0, im pretty sure a 1/2 ton truck would be slower. so you'd take him easy.
