went to the track tonight. some help please

Al tuned my car badly and then sent a revised map. well that map sucked worse and took all the torque out of my car so i threw the first crappy but more torquey map back in.

went to the track today.

only got 2 passes in because there were like 150 cars there.

first pass then second pass.

im happy with my 60 on the second. i'd dragged about 7 times before and i'd never broken a 1.82 before. lots of 1.82's 1.85's and etc. so that was nice to finally get a good launch in.

dynoing 298 whp custom road tuned by dynoflash,

GSC 272/272 cams
AMS turbo back with test pipe
HKS intake
Maxfordexhaust manifold
Helix o2 housing
LPI hard pipes
GRE fmic
FORGE bov
FORGE mbc @ 21 lbs (lowered from 22 since dyno said i was so lean uptop)
ARP head studs
Walbro 255 fuel pump

ACT HDSS clutch with prolite flywheel
TRE transmission

compression check was good. boost leak test was good. 3000 mile old spark plugs. brand new transmission fluid. brand new mobile one full synthetic motor oil.

im not sure if any of you guys are good enough to tell but does my shifting look ok? i did the best with what i had. these are all lifted shifts. i don't power shift my evo. i was at about 7500-7600 when the orange light came on telling me the 1/4 was over.

the hummidity was 90% last night and the track here in houston is at sea level. temp was around low 60's last night i think.

your ET isn't bad for the MPH your making so your driving isn't the problem, it more then likely will improve with more seat time though.

Comparing your trap sppeds to your current mods tells me that you have more power on the table. There could be any number of things holding you back in the power department, tune, not enough boost, boost leak, ect.

your results really aren't that bad, it's just they "could" be better.

warrtallon doing 12.2 with no cams, no fmic, no lower ic pipe, no exhaust manifold, no o2 housing, on pump.

i fail

i just think my mph is bad for the mods i have. i expect at least a 112 out of it.

i stated all the testing at the begining though

"compression check was good. boost leak test was good. 3000 mile old spark plugs. brand new transmission fluid. brand new mobile one full synthetic motor oil."

I don't think you are going to get the 50whp you are missing from just a better tune.

There is odviously something wrong with your car, or you got just another slow one .

Yes it happens to other people ... Didn't you read about the BR stage 4 Evo that only made 300 whp and came back with a good compression and boost leak test's?

At least you don't have it that bad off...

Its hard to compare what another driver can do with a different car at a different track. My advise is test yourself v. yourself.

What dyno for your numbers?

Seat time, seat time, seat time. You 60s still can improve. Shifting wise - its hard to tell at what peak RPM to shift - your dyno sheet will tell you when everything peters off. I would expect a mph or two more in the 1/8, esp with cams. You dont have to power (no lift shift) to get the greatest times (I dont p/s either) - just have to practice.

Did you log the runs? If you think the tune is weak - retune.

why can't i compare with clay? my track is at sea level. it's one of the best in the nation from what i hear.

also keep in mind im fkd by the 6 speeds short 4th gear. im almost at 7800 rpm's in 4th when finishing out the 1/4

here are my dyno sheets from Dynoflash's custom road tune.

Because every driver is different, every car is different, every track is different. One one person can do, another might not be able to do. (nothing against you or Warr)

Does this read high or low? But it looks like your tq peters off at 6500, hp at 7000.

That's actually not bad at all. For the power your car is putting down that's pretty good. Was this on staight pump?... Also remember humidity has a HUGE effect on robbing power. I live in Hawaii where the daily average is 80%+ humidity, it makes a big difference. Try to hit the track again when the temps and humidity are lower and I'll bet you pickup at least another 2mph cosistently.

I was going to say the same thing. Your times can be better but it looks pretty good 12.4 at 110 sounds about right and get it tune if you want more improvement. You should be at least running 114 high 11's low 12's

ahh. i didn't know humidity played that huge of a role. and yes this was straight 93 octane, spiking to 21 psi and tapering to... well you can see the graph lol.

i was so disappointed in that time because it's was the best launch i ever had only to loose to my very best time by 2 thousands of a second (personal best is 12.416 @ 109.37 with a 1.82 60 foot about 2 months ago.

i appreciate the help guys i'm glad to know it's at least not my driving thats bad. i know it's nothing special but as long as it's not "bad" then i'm ok with it.

practice makes perfect. this is my 4th time dragging ever. my 2nd time dragging was when i got my best time though.

hopefully i'll have better results on the 5th time after a retune by jestrtuning
