More advanced stuff like switching to coilovers (isnt needed but if you are gonna do it anyway) can shave up to 10# or more. Making sure that you are racing with an almost empty fuel tank is important as well. 14 gallons (full) x 6.5 = 91 lbs versus 2 gallons weighing 13, or 78 lb reduction.
Thanks for the help.

Nah, man, don't go crazy. John gets a little bit nutty about this stuff. He's new and young and a bit more loose in the screws than most of us, but he's a good driver.

You CAN achieve 11s in a IX on pump gas and stock cams. You are on 91oct, though, right? It's much tougher with that 91pisstane, and I bet if you had 93, you'd already be very close. You can keep the weight as-is, and you don't need race gas. Do the o2 and LICP, then be sure to run some aggressive boost. IXs make gobs of power with few mods due to the turbo being a little better, but also because they can run more boost on pump gas than all previous Evos. 91 limits you some, but you can still run more boost than 8s.

How much boost were you running with the 112mph traps?

Yes, I am on 91oct. I'm going to try 93oct next time out along with a little less weight. My boost was between 21psi-22psi for the 112mph trap.

You can get 93 in San Francisco? i didn't think it was available. Those Cali guys are always complaining about that...we only get 91 here, too.

On 93, you should try 24psi. That might put you over the top.

Ahh stop you make me blush. New to Evo, only this year. Young no. New to drag racing, no. Loose nut behind the wheel, yes.

25psi is probably the maximum limit that you can run on 93. It requires a careful tune but I managed a 12.09 with some spin, and less parts than I have now or you intend for that matter. Car weight at the time was 3330 with me in it and I have it down to 3270 now (Warr the seats are still in the car, I just am missing bumper beams right now) with some "possibly" excessive weigh reduction. For reference, the same trip there were 2 other Evo's that ran 11's with the same mods (but more weight than me, I apparently suck). One ran an 11.99 @ 109 with a 1.65 60' and the other was an 11.98 @113.65 with a 1.81 60'.

Definitely no 93 octane at any gas stations here in California. BTW, great times for pump gas!! You'll be in the 11's in no time.

93 and 100 is available at some pumps scattered throughout the bay area. I have 100 octane from the pump 10mins from my house.

Wow! I've seen 100 octane at some Unocals awhile back, but 93 octane? What gas stations have 93?

WOW great times. What turboback did you get?

I am trying to figure out how you did all that for $900

Tune from turbotrix (Different tuners I know) = $500 for the first time
Drop in = $60
MBC = $80
TBE = $800 starting

Great times, great driving, keep up the good work
