Cool 1st time at the strip...Lubbock Dragstip that is

Well I finnaly made the commute to Lubbock Dragway in Texas for the first time in the Evo. The drive is about 2 hours away from my place. I only let the car cool down for about 20 minutes from the drive before hittin the strip...

Evo IX w/ TTP downpipe, TTP resonated test-pipe, Megan cat-back, Forge boost controller set @ 21psi, K&N drop-in and quarter tank of 91 w/ quater tank of 106 octane mix= half tank...and NO tune... used the stock 5000 rev limiter to luanch

Also Lubbock Dragway is at a elevation of 3163ft.

And here are the true results, only ran three times, the last run I bogged the hell out of the car, remeber I used the stock rev limiter...

definitely need a tune with a two-step so you won't launch so horribly

The race gas and the mods are all pretty useless without a tune. The tune is the most important and least expensive...I don't understand why you don't have one.

I live way the hell out in Bum_F_Egypt. Clovis, New Mexico to be exact. Me getting a tune will mean I have to pull my ECU(no laptop or tactrix cable)... and my ride is a daily driver

Tuners do make road trips, they also have mail in flashes...

Laptop: $250-500
Tactrix cable: $80
Mail in flash: $199
Not running mid 13's and low 14's in an Evo IX.....$$PRICELESS$$

I think most of us use the Evo as a daily driver. If it's not important enough to you to get a cheap laptop (or borrow one) and a tactrix cable, and you're not willing to be without the car for 3 days for a mail-in, then you'll have to deal with having a slow Evo.

^^^ true-true, but on the other hand we are working on having a tuner come down to Lubbock/Abilene for a tune.

Its also difficult beacuse there are so few Evos in the area to calaborate for a good turn out of folks to make it worth while for ANY tuner...

Better driving. The 60s are awful, but that comes with practice.

a tune would def. help out a lot. It sucks that your evo's your DD and you have no time for down time. I was in the same boat until I got me another DD. Just watch out for tuners to come around and make your drive for one.

We have a tuner by the name of KevinD setup to come to Abilene hopefully this month....

...As for launching my ride I have the stock rev limiter to paly with, so what do you think the best 60' can be w/ a 5000 rpm two step...?
