First time at the track with my IX MR

here are the slips from my two fastest runs. on both runs i spun all 4 tires through most of 1st gear. pissed me off. my goal was to break into the 12's but with the water down there, and the cold track it was spin city. i think it's funny that on my worst 60' of the day i had my best 1/4 mile time. if i could have hooked up and got that 60' down around a 1.7, i know i would have broken into the 12's. only relevant mods to my car are HKS carbon Ti catback, and a dirty K&N filter lol

a buddy of mine was pulling 1.7 60' times, but kept missing 4th. his EVO IX is an 11 second car, but the best i saw him run tonight was 12.4.

my goal is to beat a friend of mine with an 06 STi. he's got a turboback, intake, and tune, pulled 1.7 or 1.8 60' times, and his best time to date was a 13.0. i want to see if i can beat him with only the mods i have now. i think i might be able to do it.

the yellow slip was my final run of the night. don't bother telling me about the reaction time because i don't care. all i'm worried about is the 60' and 1/4 mile times. i let the light go green, then go when i was ready. funny thing is i caught and passed everything that ran against me that way haha.

oh, and i couldn't go around the water box because of the way the track is made. they put the water down at the beginning of the lanes from retaining wall to retaining wall. pissed me off. i'm gonna try a different track with no water, and when the track isn't as cold. i will break 12's dammit.

Um well I would say get a flash if you dont have one and you would be good to go since your not looking into any other mods.

no, i'm not doing anything power wise at all. if i could, i'd go back to stock exhaust. i want to be able to break 12's as close to stock as possible. i know the car's capable. i want my driving to get me to the 12's, not power. i should have broken 12's tonight if not for the ****ty track. i want to be able to beat him and his TBE, intake, and tune with just my dirty filter and catback lol

Thats easy, just power shift all the way down the track. There is no way you will be breaking into 12's without the proper setup. More mods equal 12's.

evo IX's can hit high 12's stock all day long. my shifting was fine. it was the launch that killed my time. the launch was good, but the slippery track screwed me. on a dry warm track i should have no problems breaking into the 12's

You'll pick up some time with a flash if no other reason because the 2 step is higher. Assuming you havent done so already I would remove the clutch restrictor from the slave cylinder for more consistent launches (or have this done at any rate). You can pick up a little time in your shifts, and the 23mph you picked up on the back half could be better if the car wasnt going so rich as you near the end of 4th gear. Again a tune will get you into the high 12's with the few mods you have.

thanks for the tips, but as i said before, i think i can get to the 12's with the car the way it sits now. i dont want the mods to get me to 12's. i want my driving to get me there. i just need a dry track, and i'm there. that 2.0 60' killed me. if i can get that down to 1.7 or lower, which i believe i can, i'm in the 12's.

Getting your 60' back down to 1.8 on the 13.15 with the 2.0 will get you a 12. Its just a matter of how deep into the 12's you want to go. Is it a catback or turboback HKS?

Then you should've posted this in the drag racing section.

I only have a 1/8 track close to me, but my stock 9 is running the same times and mph as your car with a worse 60ft. Get your car tuned.
