Help with setup...

Hi all,

I know this has been discussed before but I would like some answers to my particular situation....And for those jumping the gun and telling me to search...look at my joined date and my post count......

I have a GSR IX with the following mods:
- TBE & O2 Housing
- ETS LICP
- Installed but not yet connected Forge MBC
- Drop in K&N filter
- Fuel pump (Not yet installed)

The car has yet to be tuned....

Where I am at the gas is crap, you cali people complain about the 91 you get to play with, well...I think ours (Caribbean) does not even come close to that....

A gallon of C16 at the local track will run you close to $12....So no race gas maps for me...Denatured alcohol runs about $18 a gallon at the local hardware store..and that is if you can get your hands on them....so alky kit is a no go for me....

I want the car to be able to break in the 11's and still be a reliable daily and yes I know the stock turbo with great driving is capable of doing it....BUT NOT on 91 octane....

I was thinking of getting the following:
- FP Green 20G
- 680 or necesarry injectors (<---Recommendations???)
- Upgraded FMIC (Do I need to upgrade UICP? Would like to keep stock airbox!!)
- Cossi cams or GCS' and head studs
- Costum tune...
- Upgraded clutch.....

May not be the chosen path of upgrade for many but I'm just looking to get close to the 350WHP to break into the 11's without knocking the engine to death.....

Any help will be greatly appreciated...

Thanks.

Help yourself by searching. This stuff has been discussed ad nauseam. You've been here 3+ years and don't know how to find information?

The planned mods look fine. Why you said that may not be the chosen path for most is beyond me. That IS the chosen path for most - why would it not be? 350whp (uncorrected Dynojet) is enough to hit 11s if the weight of your Evo is not high and you can drive very well. I think those mods will get you there on pump gas, but it depends on how poor your pump gas really is. If worse than 91oct, then you may not have enough knock resistance to run the boost and timing needed to make good power on the 20G.

Thank you very much!

I have searched many times. Problem is I have seen people do more with less or less with more mods. Most people I have researched mods from have way more things added to their cars hence my statement, not the chosen path.

Buschurs website also has extra mods in their upgrading path.

The gas down here really sucks and what's worse there's no way in actually testing it. There are two other EVO's on island right now, one with way low boost settings and the other one just sent the ecu to get flashed for 91, just don't know at what boost level yet. I'm just waiting to see how his EVO does in terms boost level and knock.

I have some experience with driving as I do have a 440 Auto Cuda set up for bracket racing, but that's a whole different ball game compared to the EVO. I just want the car to perform well without blowing up the engine chasing that 11....

Hence my inquiry for some advice and knowledge...

Thanks, really appreciate your input!

I am unsure of what exactly you are wanting answers for? Are you wondering if the setup your thinking about will be able to hit 350awhp on pump gas? Yup it should and then some with proper tuning. Also there have been many EVOs that have taken similiar paths when modifying their cars and haven't had any serious issues, so it should be reliable, but then again it depends on who is tuning and proper installation of parts.

Thanks for the input!

I know, I have been doing many research and have come up with many ideas but for some strange reason it doesn't want to register as possible in my mind.

I have been doing some searching on cams, some threads come that they swear they are the next best thing since sliced bread, others that think it is a total waste of money with the 20G and some that say cams are totally worthless.....

I have no doubt in the tuners ability and what he can do....

My main concern is that once the car is shipped over, there will be no way of getting a costum tune down here (No AWD dyno's, no reliable and experienced tuner) and I don't really like the mail in flash idea all that well.....

Blah, that setup it will be....

Thanks.
