Some Advice from Pro Dragsters...

Hey there evreyone....
I have been racing for quite sometime now but never really drag raced competively. I am going to run a 04 RA all motor lancer. It is fast right now but will soon be much faster....I was wondering if anyone here can give me some pointers on how to best launch a FWD car and also what works best weight placement wise......I have done alot of hot rods but Imports are new to me kind of... I was thinking of doing BOTI in the Street-stock class......any advice is welcome....thanx..

We all have AWD, so it's not the best place to ask. Maybe ask on a DSM forum or for the FWD guys or any forum that has FWD cars.

I owned a mk4 GTI with drag radials and the best i could ever get was a 1.8 60ft. I would pull the e-brake and burnout but it always pulled through the water thus not heating the tires very well, but the one time it did was at LACR battle of the imports and i broke out @12.99 with a 13.0 dial in. DAMN!! I wish you the best of luck. Throw a big shot of nitrous on that bad boy, slicks and squeeze the sh$$ out of it!

Are you gonna run slicks with your car? Anyway, the set up for FWD car is you want a little rake in the stand. Lower in the front and little higher in the rear. Set the rear suspension as stiff as you can. If you're really serious, get suspension straps for your front so it'll limit the front lift on launch. I'm not really an expert, but I do have some experience on FWD drag racing. Hope these will help you.

PM user name DRAG He runs a single digit N/A Honda, as well just bought a Evo X and I am sure still has his 05 VIII that went 11's on nitrous all stock maybe an open DP and tune. Anyway he knows his ****. As well knows how to get a car down the track as well as anyone.

FWIW I have ten plus years experience drag racing RWD V8's and this is my go to guy on the import and FWD side.
