11.84 at 6000' on stock turbo

Don't ask me how (ok, I know how I guess, but I was amazed), but my car went nuts today during a drag event where I hit a slew of 11s when I had NEVER hit 11s before at this altitude. I even blew away my best time near sea level a few months ago at Fontana, although it's rumored to be a slow track anyway. I wasn't able to hit great 60's due to the slick launch surface, but my traps were carrying me quite a bit. My previous best trap was 116.3, and that was just a few nights ago. Before that, it was a 115 at Fontana. Suddenly, I hit a 117.5 on the first run. Next run, higher 117...then the next 5 runs all had a progressively higher trap all the way to 118.9 with every run being between 11.84-11.97. I was absolutely amazed and ecstatic, although I couldn't help thinking that with a GOOD 60' (1.65-1.69), I would be easy 11.7s and maybe sneaking 11.6s. It wasn't in the cards, though, as the VHT wore off within an hour or two, and they never resprayed, plus there were no cars laying down serious rubber - just imports with most of them being AWD.

Nevertheless, my long long quest for overcoming altitude and hitting solid 11s has come to fruition. I am utterly amazed at how fast the car was going at this altitude on the stock (IX) turbo. It should not be making this much power. Hell, I'd have been ecstatic to make this power at sea level, so it's pretty amazing. Here's the slip, and a vid of this run will be up later when my bud uploads it:

It's all crinkled up due to being in my pocket all day - couldn't lose it! I also had an 11.88 plus a bunch of 11.9s. The traction got worse all day, so I wasn't able to improve upon those times. I even had my tires (worn RT-615s) down to 18psi all around, and my launch control was down to 5200!! I never launch below 6000 on a sticky surface, but even at 5200 and 18psi in the tires, I was lighting up all 4. Since I hit a 1.69 on this exact track Wednesday right after they sprayed VHT, I know it's not just me and not just the tires, although I realize these are not good drag tires. It's quite an experience learning to launch/drive with so much more power than I've ever felt...

Vid of my 11.888 - don't have the 11.84 yet. The white Evo is my buddy and hit a best of 11.93 - he has a Green.

Nice times Warrtalon. You've been after your goal for a long time and it's good to see you get there. I hate to be the first to say it, but, now you've got to set another goal. Job well done!
