Went onto the drag strip for the 1st time

Went to Gainsville Raceway last night and i sucked lol. Don't have a way of posting timeslip or video right now, but i'll get them up later on of my best run. For now these are the numbers from the slip which was my second run:

R/T..... .578
60'..... 2.046
330.... 5.813
1/8..... 8.990
MPH.... 77.76
1000...11.724
1/4......14.041
MPH.....95.75

Then a modded 350Z wanted to race me and i lost that one too. 350Z 14.417" @ 98.81MPH / Me 14.590 @ 95.34MPH. It was a lot of fun, but frustrating cause i was hoping to get into the 13's. Currently i have Ultimate Racing Intake, Testpipe, and Nisei 1pc UICP. Maybe I should've tried Frank's "Ay Dios Mio" technique

If anyone has any suggestions for launching, I'm all ears

Not bad for your first time... The MPH does seem kind of low though. I would've expected 102 with those mods. Did you run out of 4th and just didn't want to shift to 5th?

I'm suprised your MPH is that low. I went 102 completely stock and I'm fat....3850 race weight. Catback only I went 13.1 @ 104.5 with a ravaged clutch and 1.9 60 foot. I have a turboback and drop in now and the car feels equal to my VIII, which runs 109 at the same track.

Why is his MPH so low then? I think Automobile magazine said they did a quarter in 14.0 at 100 mph. Other magazines managed much quicker ET's. I'm no time slip analyst, but something just seems off.

Yeah those times are pretty bad. I've never been to the drag strip either I'm into real tracking on the road course. Maybe I'll try it in the future hopefully I won't do that bad.

I ran 14.030 @ 98.66 last race weekend in vegas ( couple weeks ago ). I'm running 2.0 60ft.. not wanting to destroy my clutch JUST yet. I did trap 14.125@100.64 back in early may with a 2.2 60ft, but it was about 30 degrees cooler that weekend ( yay cold fronts in the desert )

Temperature, humidity, and barometric pressure all have a huge influence on the car at the drag strip. In Gainesville, the times I have been there (and I've been there alot of times), the temp and humidity are pretty high around this time of year. People were running 102 mph trap speeds months ago in cooler climates. Not in July in Gainesville FL. Do you know what the temp and humidity were?

The 95 mph trap sounds slow, but if it's your first time out darg racing, I'm not really suprised. Just try again later.

I'd like to see my car trap around 108mph. In the current weather, I couldn't really expect much more. No way I am running it on this wonky stock clutch, though.

I took my car to Rockingham last week and it went 13.68 @ 100.7 mph. It was high 80's and high humidity with a 20-ish mph headwind. It was stock with the wastegate actuator mod and full weight, no weight reduction.

It's been raining here in this area everyday. That night at 9:05 PM it was partly cloudy at 74°F, dew point 68°F, humidity at 82%, barometric pressure 30.08^. I just cut/pasted that from weather.com. My nieghbor recommended i need to get a boost gauge so that i can see what the car is doing and help minimize the risk of me messing up something in the car.

yeah in gainesville you heat soak like crazy in the summer. I've lost 3-4MPH depending on how horrible the conditions are. I think I am going to go next Wednesday and I really hope my trap doesn't go down considerably.

Also I should be getting back to you soon about your car and setting up a time where we can look at it.

You should try taking your car to a pro in the area... TTP? AWDmotorsports?

Boost leak test, fresh set of plugs and a tune is your answer.

Be sure your traction control is turned off.

That stock clutch is soft. You will not be able to compare yours to another X with an aftermarket clutch. They are way different.

You are down about 35whp or are a slow shifter, or both. Stock X should be 13's at 98-99mph.
