Another new best in the evo.
Another new best in the evo.
I raced the car again at another private track rental. I love track rentals.
The main changes to the car are nitto drag radials and a new aligment.
I still can not get the car to 60' like I want. I think the clutch is just to grabby for the midragne power/tq I make and it spins hard no matter what I do. I do have something I am going to try, and I will make a post about it if it works. But at least now the car is conistant. No matter what pressure in the tires or how I launched it, it would 60' the same.
Anyway, here is my best of the night.
60' 1.721
330' 4.813
1/8 7.382
mph 97.82
1000' 9.618
1/4 11.485
mph 123.72
I ran 10 times, slowest was a low 11.55. Slowest mph was 122.5x
The car even went 98.0 in the 1/8th one pass.
Btw, the car is still stock turbo, cams, intercooler, intake manni, engine.

Not bad???!!!?? Are you crazy? That's absolutely insane to trap 123+ with stock cams and FMIC.
Fathouse, where is all that power coming from with those stock parts? There has to be something giving that extra power, because you said the car isn't even light despite being an RS due to your ballast (hehe, j/k). So, to trap like that, you'd have to be making 440-450whp uncorrected on a Dynojet. Power like that can't come from nowhere. What do you think it is?
Congrats on another best, but yeah...you have several more tenths with a good 60'. I don't think it's the power or torque, because others are nailing 60's with DRs or less with the same or more power. Did you have the tire pressure down around 18? That's where they should be on the DRs. Man, what I would do with another 6mph like that...

I tried my tire pressure everywhere between 16-18 up to 28 and it did not seem to matter. I run the quatermaster clutch in my car, and while it shifts wonderful it does have a very small engaument window. I dunno if its to grabby or if I just do not or can not slip it enough. But once the clutch grabs it spins the tires hard. I tried the 2 step in a few different places and even tried with it off. I have never had a problem 60' dsm before but this thing is giving me fits.

At least is conistant though with the drag radials. With the street tires it would do a 1.7 on pass, and destroy the tires to a 2.0 or something the next. That was even more frustrating.
You want my mph, man, what I would do with a 1.58 or something like that.
Anyway I don't think there is anything special about my car to make it have more power than anybody elses. Its just I know mine is setup perfect. The parts I do have are matched perfect. I know the car is tuned perfect. I know my car is tuned more aggresive than the average person is goin to get from a mail order flash or something but I go over my car with a fine tooth comb before every race.
A good friend of mine and myself both have a good nack for making dsms faster than what they "should" be for a given setup. We have spent a honest 10-12 hours flashing my car. Granted that is pump gas, race gas, and now e85. But I am cofident that my car leaves no power on the table in the tune.
I had a 1g way back in the day (2001 era) that had 2.5 exhaust, mbc, 190 pump, and a act clutch. Stock everything else, my own ghetto rigged fuel control. That car would go 12.9 @ 103 on pump, and 12.5 @ 108 on race gas like clockwork.
In highschool a friend of mine and I build a 85 dodge omni glh turbo ( if anybody even knows what that is ) that went 12.7 @ 108.
The evo is just such a good platform to start with, and we can tune this things so good they have so much potential.
The week I bought my car I raced it, it was a "average" evo imho then. It had a mail order flash mostly the same parts on the car now. I went 12.0 @ 113 on pump. Since then I have changed the clutch, FP wg actuator, injectors, Made a 3" maf hard pipe, and ported the hotside stuff. And alot of tuning and setting it up to get it to run what it does now.
Damn I just posted a novel.

I realize you can setup a car, but these traps are even BEYOND all that stuff you said. The turbo can only flow so much air. You know what I mean. It's similar to Turbo8 with gigantic traps but no ETs to show for it. In your case, your 1.72 isn't way off from my 1.66 (my best is 1.65), but the 6mph is only giving you .03s. I think part of the high traps is the tire spinnage. I am launching at 7k off the 2-step with my DRs set to 20psi on an Exedy Twin HD, and I spin very slightly. That type of dead hook gives lower traps, so we may not be truly 6mph apart. I think if you dead hook, you'll get an 11.2-11.3 and see 120-121. Same power, but getting down the track differently.
Oh, I agree on the consistency. I did hit some 1.6s on my street tires, but I could just as easily do a 1.8. Now, the DRs give me consistent 1.65-1.68 on every run.

I'd rather have a 11.2
I wanted to, but I am happy with how the car runs for what it has on it. I have cams sitting here, and a fmic should be here soon. So I doubt I will be able to not install them before I go to the track again.
I will just have to pick somebody else to go after.

Get those cams and intercooler on the car then pull off a solid 11.1
