Track times vs. Dyno numbers....

I've trapped as high as 124 with about 500 AWHP..... and I have seen a car with like 530-540 AWHP trap 124 also.....

why is there such a descrapancy?? Can the dyno's be reading false numbers? Can my car actually be more powerful than it is?

You can provably trap more if you shifted faster. 11.8 with 500hp needs some work.

Yeah I know......I need to practice more....

when I ran 11.8 @ 120 I was running on some heavy 18 X 8.5" wheels

When I ran 12.2 @124 I was running the MR BBS wheels.....

both are horrible times....

I can't remember if you stated this before, but what was the weight of Cwill's car during his 10sec pass?

I am pretty sure it was ~2900lbs.. We pulled the interior the night we ran 10's, never actually weighed it though..

Difference in the dyno, difference in the power curve, driving of course but there is more to "500 whp" than just the peak number.

A car set up correctly on our dyno making 500 whp will run about 135 mph trap speeds.

dyno's are tools. I put down 377 whp on a stock VIII turbo and ran 122.98 and many 120-121 passes. this was on a dyno jet too. SOOOOO many factors play into it like everyone else said. if you go out and hit a 1.7x 60' and get clean shifts and yet still only go 124! I would say your not 500 whp. dont get caught up in the drama of a dyno sheet. but if you care more about numbers than trap speeds thats your right as an american

Trap speed factors in performance of the driver and the car, which includes the powerband where as a dyno just measures the cars performance

390whp 360wtq on a dynojet and I trapped 120mph. Tire size and gear ratio's play a roll in it just as much as weight, driver, etc.... It's not just about peak numbers but how much you utilize the overall powerband.
