Need some hints please.

Hi!

First i want to say that i`m not a evo owner, but own a 600awhp st165 celica. ( daily driver )

And since there is like 0 people using the celica for drag racing, it`s not much help to get there..
Therefor i hope i can get some help from you guys.

First some info on my car: it`s a 89 celica alltrac, got a fully built 2.1liter at about 600awhp. at 30-32psi.

I got the car on a few 1\4 mile runs this summer, but due to no track prep, i couldn`t get the 60 down any lower than 1.95 ( 11.1-132 hitting the rev limiter about 30m before the 1\4mile mark.)

When i did that run i was on normal 280 treadware tires at 35psi, and stiff track suspension.

So next year i want to be a little better prepared..

1: i want to get some drag tires for my car, i do not have alot of space for huge tires, but i need to have 16" rims due to the brakes.)
I can get 235\50\16 in there but not much larger. might have space for 55 but that`S it..
What tires should i choose? ( soft wall tyres for drag only. but must be dot aproved)

2: how do you guys sett up the suspention for drag? soft front and rear?
Do you do anything else to the chassie to get good starts?

3: never tryed drag slicks before, is there anything i need to think about when using them?

4: how hard are they on drivetrain compared to stiff street tyres?

Sorry for the BAD spelling\writing but i do not live in a english speaking contry, so trying my best here..

Hey im sure you already know this but just in case. Check out alltrac.net. There are a few people on there that drag there 165's but not many. It may take a bit of work considering the car was designed for off road racing but it will be bad A** to say the least.

Im hotrodhendrix on there by the way. I have a 91

Good luck!
