Sorry to hear about the engine failure. Who built the engine and when did it first go in the car?

Nice passes Tony. How are you liking the dog box? What happened to the engine? I haven't heard from your dad yet, sounds like it dropped a cylinder right after the lights? I see the time come up on the board right before the smoke, did you hold it open past the lights?

You guys will get it going and back on track soon I'm sure!

dhammans, did we get a chance to meet? Were you the one walking from the start line when Tony did his burn out? I remember seeing someone near the center area. We got the opportunity to meet a LOT of people Sunday and I tried to spend as much time with everyone as I could. A special thanks to Tony Palo, Chuck Seitsinger, Mark and Mike with JOTECH/Kenny Tran Racing and many, many others.

crcain. The motor is the one that was installed sometime early summer and then the car was taken to Indianapolis to have the cage built and some other miscellaneous changes. No changes were made to the engine/head other than installing the Oil Lines/Water Lines and the FP Black Turbo. I think the video and ET/MPH speak for themselves as to the performance of the new Black. I've said previously that this turbo was going to be my favorite and it doesn't disappoint.

Tony and I made 7 passes on Saturday (first time ever to be driving the car since engine was installed). The first time to really run the engine was at around the pits at ORP for a warmup lap, then back in the trailer. Then dyno day at Cobb. We made about 6 pulls on the dyno. So, the 7 low boost runs on Saturday and the 3 on Sunday was the only time on the motor. We'll know more by the end of the week.

As for the weekend, Tony and I really had a great time. We let the girls go to the lake and we went 300 miles South. I was really proud of him and his driving. I didn't make it very easy for his early launches. I only had it making 10 psi of boost on the Launch Stage, so he didn't get too much help from me or the turbo. We both felt inspite of the engine failure, we had a great time together. It's been a long time for both of us. Tomorrow will bring a new day and new ideas. We learn from our failures and move on. Thanks for all of the well wishes and we'll be back out there with our heads up and knuckles dragging.

I forgot to answer Dave ( I did in a PM), but since I used an HD video, you can clearly step frame by frame and see the smoke .56 seconds(frame 17 of 30/second) BEFORE the light comes on. Even the Ambulance crew told me it happend before he got to the finish. I went back and reviewed all of the frames and each frame is timed so you can tell. Tony said it was quite a ways out from the traps, but I couldn't tell from the start line.

I was just asking, not implying anything. It seemed like the lights with the time came on watching it full speed before the smoke. I was just trying to figure out what happened. Keep in mind what I mentioned in my PM to you.

Just another side note that those rods were used in the engines last year. The rest of it was fresh and it absolutely sucks that you guys had a failure. I'm not happy about it at all. There is a reason we quite using those rods though and the problems with them were compounded anytime they were used, taken out and then re-installed. As you said, learn from our mistakes.

Good luck to both of you and I'm looking forward to seeing more from your team.

Were they aluminum rods? Might they have a machined logo on the rod as well?

Sorry for your loss. Great times! I'm sure Robert and the folks at FP are very pleased with your numbers.

I couldnt even see by the time I passed the time boards. By that time the windshield was completely coated in oil.
