Exclamation NHRA requirements

Hey guys,

Im looking to get my car cert'ed for doing 8.50+ soon. I was looking on here for a list of what people have going so far and havent found anything. Figured I would make a post and maybe we can get some info out here.

From what I have so far we are trying to cert our car to run low 9s/ high 8s. So we will just call it an 8.50+ list:

1. Roll Cage (must have window net)
2. Battery Cutoff (regardless of battery location)
3. Parachute (150mph+)
4. Helmet, full fire suit, gloves and shoes, also Neck Brace.
5. Scatter Shield
6. Driveshaft Loop
7. 5 point harness
8. Crank Pulley/clutch/flywheel (SFI rated)

Im just looking for some insight from the people on here who have went these speeds, so to speak "legally", since Im looking to race the car in a few different series, it needs to be done right . PLease feel free to chime in and I will keep the list updated for others.

Thanks

If you haven't already pick up the latest 2010 NHRA handbook it will have all that info listed plus more.

I would also consult your local NHRA official that will be inspecting your cage so that any and all ?'s are addressed prior to construction.

Also you will need to get a physical exam in order to get your NHRA license which you will need for that et/mph.

It gets very costly at that level and remember that certification occurs every 3 yrs.

I have a copy, but sometimes it gets confusing understanding what all would apply to an evo. I was really hoping for AMS to chime in or some other person who has "been there, done that" in case I was missing anything.

Yeah, I know I need the exam and application for license as well as the rules for obtaining the license at the track here.

Im looking into the cage certification people this week and seeing what all they can tell me before we get this cage in.
