19th Annual DSM/EVO Shootout, presented by Buschur Racing
Packed event! Lots of breakage and a few rain delays made for a long day though.
Highlights and lowlights:
The people who stand out in my mind are the English Racing crew. Super friendly and have the cars and talent to back it up. Shep was the same. You talk to him and he doesnt shrug you off like youre bothering him, and his Talon was there for some shakedowns and it blistered down the track until he got squirly and had to let off. Looked like a 7 sec pass for sure. His GtR pulled an easy mid 9.
Spoke with Evodan, nice guy with a mean yellow Evo that pulled a 10.1. Map was there with the awesome FD4G63 Rx7 and pulled hard into the 8s I believe. Their EVO didnt fair so well and went home with a hole in the block. The Red 2G of Boostin Performance was gorgeous and pulled a high 8. Amazing car. The automatic DSMs were all amazing especially the ER Jeff Bush DSM that went high 8s and was super consistant.
Seen David Bushur verbally blow up on some Evo ESA dudes who had the wrong tires. Last year they were able to run Hoosier QTPs and this year I guess the rules changed to radial tires only. Well the guys didnt know that and David was trying to keep his cool, but after 5 seconds he just went off on these poor dudes who apparantly cant read the rules. Either way he should of went up and told them that calmly. Anyway that rule change killed the popular class and the fastest stock appearing was an STM Red turbo car that was mid 10s @ 133 I believe.
Seen some internet remote tuners who claim high HP that either went slow, couldnt drive, broke down, or all the above. Wont point them out as they are sponsors and I dont want to get reamed by the Mods on here. Mellon was not there as far as I could tell. Shame as hes the only remote tuner whos car actually goes fast..
The road race/ car show day was all right. The course looked like it was for beginners and after a while I just wanted to leave. Curt Brown was super nice and he faired well on the road course but his single disk couldnt handle the Drag racing portion and that clutch slipped like mad with the FP black. David Buschurs evo was a BEAST on the road course for his first couple laps then it looked like he took it easy. The slorice white evo was the most impressive, as well as a ringer evo X for the road coure action.
Good event and looks like attendance picked up this year.

The rules are very clear and it amazes me that people struggle to read them still.
When you say road course , You mean autox , or is there an actual road race course there?
If so were they running it HPDE style with open sessions and groups, Did they do timed runs there?

The STM car that ran 10s in stock appearing was EB and drove by Brandon M.
This was my first year being able to attend and it was great. Curt Brown, Jihn Shep, and David Buschur are always a blast to talk to. There was a decent amount of breaking and at one point the skys looked horrible to the point i was thinking might be a rain day. But everything held out and went great. Just a awesome event and thanks to everyone that put it on.
Evolunchbox-it killed me winning that way. And u probably would have won. I got a lil sideways for the short portion i was in the gas. Thats when i figured let out and save the car. I wish u would have got ur 9 against me in that run. Woulda been great.

LOL at the bold part
Most people leave asap on Sunday because most everyone has several hours to get home. Ive never see the final quick 8's in the past because I wanted to get home. Im sure most everyone else is the same way.
Perhaps keep friday the dyno day like this year and make Sunday the car show/autox. Makes leaving early a little less upsetting since you can spend a few hours checking out all the cars and vendors and take off.
And maybe no more TnT...
Who's the CFM or CFT something car? White FWD talon drag prepped? Dude was doing pulls in the pits with people walking around. Idiots that end up ruining a good time. Just a thought David, what if we move the shootout to Saturday and run into the night? Make the schedule easier for all the guys breaking down.
his names is Helson who is a good friend to the crew
Sorry to hear that he was careless, I will relate the concern This was my second time @ the Shoot out and the event was definitely packed and interesting with some of the custom vehicles like the Buchur 1932 Ford Hot Rod and a Baja Dune Buggy with the evo engine swap
Sergio had a better 60ft ...he ran a 1.37 60ft !!! coasting a 10.3@91mph ....Oh well is all part of racing. But all in all we had a good time. Will be back next year for the 20th anniversary PS I like to Thank Richard & Alex from Dog Box for the "Hint" on our problem, sometimes the simplest things fly over our heads, Thank You will be in touch
Congrats to all the winners and guys who set new personal bests. Wish we could have been there but had too much to catch up on and our own SouthEast race with D-sport getting setup. We will def be making the trip next year with a couple cars
