1/8 Mile trap low???

Hey guys i ran my car a week ago and posted the vid in the evo general section. ran 8.04 @ 85 mph. Is that a low trap speed for my car? All of my mods are in the sig. I would like to note that i shifted at 7500-7700 rpms. Would that hurt me on a stock turbo? I mean on my dyno sheet i made peak torque around 4k and peak power around 6200. Should i shift around 6-6500 instead? This would have me ending the gear at peak power and falling near perfect into peak torque. Would that result in a higher trap than shifting 1k over my peak hp and dropping off so much? Thanks for the input guys. I just feel like maybe that was a bit low for the mods? Maybe not idk.

I didn't that time because I shifted so deep in the gear I ended at 7200 in 3rd. How late ppl normally shift?

ive trapped a fastest of 93 in the 1/8 so far. Thats shifting at 8k, bouncing the rev limit for a good 50-100ft before the line. I feel I bounce the rev limit longer than others evos running the 1/8??

My best 1/8th mile trap on the stock turbo was 100mph. Your shifting way too high. Try shifting in the 7,200-7,400rpm range.

What's wrong with shifting in the high 6's? Just curious? When I shift at 6200 it falls in ~5500 which is pulling really hard

I just can't understand why it needs to be shifted that high if the peak hp is at 6400 or so and if shifted there it doesn't lag boost and stays between peak tq and peak hp.

I guess what i mean if what does an evo 8 with full bolt ons and cams stock motor usually trap if it has ~330awhp? Ive had some guys tell me that 90 mph would be more likely than 85 so i didn't know if i was missing some power or had an issue. I think the deep shifting has killed it and next sat i will go earlier in the gear.

not an expert by any means and mostly only did runs from a roll (didnt want to break my third tranny on my 240) but, I shifted where the power dropped off at which was 407whp at about 7200rpm. there was no point in pushing past that for me. it seemed to work better for me. give it a try when u go back to the track!

When i had 333whp i was trapping 92-93 in the 1/8th. Shifting at around 7300rpms.

why all the guess work? if you have a mellon tune, you should know exactly where to shift going off your logs? shifting just before power starts falling off, i'm sure mellon could give you all t he right info. G/L

trap speed also hinges on traction at the launch and quick shifts. For the highest trap speed and lowest e.t. you have to powershift which will damage the transmission but the record holders do it with built transmissions usually. You can pick up 5mph like this alone.

I highly doubt a stock turbo car will pick up 5mph in the 1/8th or 1/4 mile with power shifting.
