Please judge my shifting (video)

So I ran some pretty crappy times last year, mostly due to launch, partly due to shifting. Trying to get faster/smoother and would like some honest feedback.

Car has a BBK Full, supporting mods, killer 93 octane tune (tscompusa FTW). ~ 450 whp/400 wtq. Drivetrain mods = Bushwacker 5-speed (stock 8 gearing), ACT XTSS, SS clutch line, Works underhood bushings, Buschur shifter base bushings, BLOX lower front motor mount.

I was not trying to powershift and would rather not. So please analyze this as a regular lift throttle/push clutch/shift gear/release clutch/floor throttle shift.

Much appreciated.

I can tell right away your not lifting off the throttle all the way because when you depress the clutch the rpms jump up

I noticed that too. Maybe my timing if off or I need to adjust clutch pedal.

It's your footwork lol, no need to adjust anything just release the throttle fully before you depress the clutch that's all. Slow it down, you'll get the hang of it

actually very slight throttle between shifts is a good thing. keeps turbo spooled up better.

Looked pretty good to me. Without using NLTS/Power shifting it's not going to get too much better IMO.

how you hold the shifter is a big part of it as well. also get comfortable with the engagement point in the clutch, and only depress it a little lower. if that makes sense...

theres definatly room for imporvement. its not bad but you can get that bish to shift like you had a dog box in it.unfortunatly the only vids i have of my shifting are on the street so ill try to get one when i get my car back on thursday/friday

as far as holding the shifter, this is whats worked for me- 1-2nd hold it like a pistol (thumb side up) 2-3 palm down and push, 3-4th palm down pull with your fingers.

Let's just say I'll be happy to get my first 11 second pass in. I wasn't launching at all (still not over blowing my 6-speed ) but my shifts were definitely a lot worse than in the vid.

Also thanks for the feedback guys. Outside vids from last time at the strip feature my buddy laughing at me to shift faster so I'm glad I'm making progress. Maybe having more miles on the trans is helping too.
