Boostin Performance @ 2012 DSM/Evo Shootout - 1st & 2nd in the Quick 16
I had the best time racing this weekend and could not thank the team @ Boostin Performance enough for all the support!! Thanks Kiggly Racing, Sparktech, and Sheptrans for their great products and customer support. The 20th annual DSM/Evo Shootout was packed, people everywhere. In the 7 years I've been going, this year was by far the biggest turnout I've seen. The people where great and it truly feels like the DSM/Evo community is stronger then ever before. I went to the shootout with 2 goals in mind. The car I brought to shootout had to be capable of both, and it was.
For the first round of qualifying the car was ready to go and I felt very confident. Lined the car up next to Emery's RS, launched the car and spun all the way though 1st and 2nd. I though the clutch was slipping but when I hit 3rd, it held great. I hit 4th nice and easy and the clutch was definitely not slipping. The Demon went 8.83 @ 167. The track was not as good as I thought it was going to be.
After looking at the AEM EMS log and video, the car was spinning all the way thru 4th. I think with less power the car would have gone faster than 8.83 given the track conditions. I decided to dial the car back. I turned the boost down 4psi. I wanted to feel the track out on Sunday before I turned things back up.
In my eyes, I could not lose no matter what the outcome. I could not be more proud of Joey and the way he and his car have represented the shop. Joey ran within .06 of his personal best, and drove the car like a complete animal!! Running consistent passes all weekend, Joey had a best of 9.0. I take more pride in a customer’s car going fast then I do with my own. The satisfaction in seeing a customer’s car do well, far surpasses anything I feel with my own car.
The Red Demon ended up going 8.57 @ 168 mph in the finals.
I want to thank all of our supporters, customers, and friends for all their help this year, It would not be possible without you. I also want to thank my good friend Rick for all his help at the shop. He called in sick to work, worked an all-nighter with me the night before we left just to make sure our customer's cars were ready. Most of all I need to thank my wife, Kristin. She has pushed me to follow my dream and without her Boostin Performance and the Red Demon would not exist. She is my pit crew, crew chief, #1 fan, and the best wife I could ask for.

- Win the Quick 16 class
- Come home with a personal best
Qualifying
For the first round of qualifying the car was ready to go and I felt very confident. Lined the car up next to Emery's RS, launched the car and spun all the way though 1st and 2nd. I though the clutch was slipping but when I hit 3rd, it held great. I hit 4th nice and easy and the clutch was definitely not slipping. The Demon went 8.83 @ 167. I decided to dial the car back. I turned the boost down 4psi. I wanted to feel the track out on Sunday before I turned things back up.
First Round
Lined up next to the Ostar Motorsports 1G. I knew this car was very fast and I could not take it easy like I was hoping for in the first round. The car left well and laid one continuous path of rubber thru first and second. With the boost turned down the car went faster than the 8.83, and went 8.67 @ 167. I felt good about the win and was ready for the next round. Second Round
Lined up next to Emery's RS for the second time. In the staging lanes I wondered if turning the boost down was the right choice. We staged the cars and I wanted to cut the best light possible. We both left with good lights but both bogged off of the line. When we both got into boost in first gear, we were right next to each other. I hit second gear and the Demon pulled to the center line hard, so I steered it back into the grove and hit 3rd - the track was still not the greatest. I held Emery off and went 9.63 @ 169.9. Third Round
Same car that took me out last year, The Abele brother's black 1G. I was ready for the rematch. After I staged the Demon the officials stopped the 1G from racing. I guess the car started to leak coolant on the line. With the car staged I saw his red light, I launched the car and felt one of the most violent 60fts ever. The Demon cut a 1.37 60 ft, and I decided not to make a solo pass, and take the easy win.Fourth Round (Finals)
Junk Box vs. Red Demon, this made for an all Boostin Performance Final in the Quick 16.
In my eyes, I could not lose no matter what the outcome. I could not be more proud of Joey and the way he and his car have represented the shop. We came to the shootout to watch Devin's car run, first and foremost. You didn't disappoint man - every run looked great and I don't think we missed a single pass from you or Joey. Can't wait to work with you guys on my DD IX.

Congrats to the whole Boostin performance crew. Way to represent at the shootout! Taking 1st and 2nd in quick speaks volumes about what you guys are capable of up there. Keep getting faster!!!
Awesome Read Devin, I don't think I've ever read anyone in the quick 16 give a play by play of their racing thoughts as you have in this thread.. Makes us feel right there with you. Congrats on the 1st, 2nd place win.. I was very impressed with both you and Joey's consistent driving.. See you guys around.
