StreetThisEVO @ the 2012 DSM/EVO Shootout

Well still no new personal best ET's for me this past weekend at the 2012 DSM/EVO Shootout. I sadly enough was fighting a 4th gear lock out issue all weekend and had a ton of problems getting the car out of the hole without bogging. The hunt for 8's will have to continue on....

Despite everything I still had a blast and did pull off two somewhat decent passes considering the issues I was having. I wanted to run the car in the Q16 this year and ended up making the field. I originally qualified 11th out of 16 after the 3 qualifying sessions but because of broken cars I was bumped to the #8 spot. I was able to make it by the first round but was taken down by Kiggly in the second. It still was fun and kinda an honor to be able to line up against some of the big names.

Here is a breakdown of the two decent passes:

9.559 @ 154.65 mph This was one of the first passes I made early on Saturday before the 1st qualifying session. At this point I wasn't having any issues shifting but took it pretty easy to get a feel for the track. Not a bad pass considering the crappy sixty and easy gear changes.

60' - 1.623
330 - 4.247
1/8 - 6.331
MPH - 117.79
1000 - 8.097
ET - 9.559
MPH - 154.65

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

9.548 @ 152.19 mph The car came out of the hole very strong with the tires spinning hard! I was able to stay in it and worked the car back towards the center. Towards the top end of the track at about 150 mph or so I must of hit some sort of fluid on the track as the car violently kicked out on me. A quick lift of the throttle and she straightened right out. I reported to the track official that there might be some fluid on the track but they didn't seem to care. A few cars who ran after me also had some issues as well in the same area. You can see my 1/8th mile really suffered from the 4th gear issues.

60' - 1.449
330 - 4.075
1/8 - 6.223
MPH - 111.65
1000 - 8.060
ET - 9.548
MPH - 152.19

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am going to pull the transmission and clutch off this weekend to look things over. I want to get back out and racing ASAP

I took videos with my GoPro as well but need some time to get those videos together.

As always I can't thank all my sponsors enough!! Without you guys this car wouldn't be were it is at today.

I saw the car, looked really good!! I think the 4th gear syn. spring got damaged. The car looked flawless though 3rd every pass, and you definatly drive the wheels off that car. The way your car looks and dips during the shifts, it reminds me of Kevin driving the bad bish when it was a 5 speed. Congrats on the solid performance!

Devin

Your car looked great but sorry to hear about your 4th gear problem.. I was really looking forward to see your car go down the track on a full pass.. sucks it didn't happen.. btw we talked in the waiting lanes for like a minute, I was the owner of the gray evo ix with green rx7 wheels.. Hopefully you figure out the problem and get those 8s soon..

Nice to see a former PT member over here. I finally got an evo of my own about ten days ago and was happy to see an update on yours. Would you believe my buddy still has the slicks off of your mx6 I bought from you like 8 years ago!!

I like it so far, haven't driven it too much. I don't plan to go all out race car on it from the start though. I wanna see 11s at full weight, street tires and stock turbo which seems to be a reasonable goal.

But coming from the land of KLs I have a spare set of FDs in storage which are waiting to hit the evo with some QTPs when the time comes.
