First pass in an Evo for me
First pass in an Evo for me
Made my first 1/4 mile pass in the evo last night. I've had the car since december, so not much experience behind the wheel. Came from a 500rwhp mustang before the evo, so im not stranger to drag racing. I made a 12.664 @ 109.50 mph with a 1.8 60ft my very first time. Any critiques from more experienced evo drag racers? Anything is appreciated

Yeah NLTS would be awesome, but with a stock turbo it'll help a little bit.... with a bigger turbo thats when you start seeing a noticeable difference, Mine is set to 5500, just preference lol. Your sig doesn't show what type of clutch you're using, also if you have a short shifter, or wighted shift knob... other than that, it pretty much comes down to the driver...maybe invest like $30 into some shifter base bushings, and underhood shifter bushings, I have TWM and its a huge improvement...I also just swapped to the Redline Tranny Fluid Cocktail (2 x MT-90, 1 x MTL), and again amazing shifts...
theres my 2 cents

shifter base bushings, and underhood shifter bushings
Also, the car is running stock clutch, stock tranny, stock block, stock head. Not an 8 turbo though, it has an evo 9 turbo. Not a huge difference, but from what i've been able to research, makes a little more horsepower.

Not bad at all for your first pass man. My first was around your numbers as well with similar mods. I'd add some tips but it looks like the people above got it covered. Just work on launching and getting your 60' better.
One thing actually, is when you launch, make sure you are not slipping the clutch then dumping it. When you do this, you are tripping the lights- then launching like you would which really hurts your 60'. Get your clutch out as fast as possible from the line. I was doing the same thing before I had a lot of expierence, and couldn't figure out why my 60 foots sucked. I looked at a video of my car and noticed it then went instantly from a low 1.7 to a low 1.6 to high 1.5 60'.
