EVO 10 vs 8/9 Drag stock turbo

Hi guys!

This is my 1st post.
I am intersting to buy an EVO for everyday car and from apearance I like more EVO10 ofcourse

I am drag racing lover and I would like to know which full-stage1 EVO can have better times in a drag race. I know that EVO10 is heavier but I ask you as you know everything about this

About prices evo10 around 20.000€ and I hope to get it at 18.000€.
EVO9 the best price I can buy it is 16.000€
EVO8 there many from 12.000 untill 15.000€

As you understand EVO10 at 18.000€ is a seduction for me.

But your replies about drag times can change this

I am a evo 8/9 person. Personally this days in the market there keep the value and they hold more power in my opinion. There is so many clean evos specially in this forum.

This wasn't a reply in my question!
Full stage1 (stock turbo) which is faster in drag race?

The turbo size is the same at evo 9 and 10?
If yes I imagine that the horsepower will be the same...
So only the weight will make a difference at drag times..

I waiting your answers.....

Ok so anyone can compare theese cars in drag racing with testpipe+catback+filter+remap+max boost with stock turbo each model?

Which of three can have better times?
Or the differences will be so small that this discussion is useless?

Evo 8 with basic bolt ons (intake, full exhaust, boost controller, tune) can go 11's with the right driver. An Evo 10 will never likely do that.

Stock turbo EVO X running e85 have already achieved 11.1 1/4 mile,
11 second stock turbo EVO X is old news already.
Unless you consider running e-85 cheating but yes EVO X can achieve low to high 11s running e-85,
depending on if your willing to shed some weight. Full interior e-85 should be high 11s easy.

That's not entirely true. With just basic bolt ons and a tune I ran 12.2 and that was full weight. I mean like 3700 with me in the car and only 327 hp. That 11.1 video posted up is my cars setup this year. Down to roughly 3000 lbs race weight and 380/393 for the power. Any Evo purchase is a great purchase in my book. I love all of them haha! As far as stock turbo X's being old news I don't know how true that is. I think like maybe 3-4 cars have done that on the stock turbo but I haven't seen the list in awhile. I just know mine is the quickest of the 11 second stock turbo cars. Should be the only stock turbo car in the 10's soon when we get it back up from the rear diff issue it was having.

You know who this is right? And either way. You still did not go 11's on pump gas and anyone who knows, will agree that the 8/9 platform will go faster mod for mod. Yours did accomplish quite a feat but we are talking about basic boltons per car. The equalizer being the mivec in the 9/10's. An Evo 9 with intake exhaust and tune will go faster than an Evo 10 with the same modifications given the same driver for each platform, drag racing. Auto cross is a whole different ball game I'm sure.

FWIW kharys old yellow Evo went 11.70's at 320whp on STMs dyno. Had a few great boltons but hp for hp it is capable of going faster. Obviously a lot of it is in the weight and drivetrain.

I am reading times both for 10 and 8/9.

8/9 with fullstage 1 cams+slicks+e85 low 11...

8/9 e85 without slicks high 11

8/9 full stage1 without slicks and E85 low 12!!!
Do you know any 8/9 at 11? I didn't found...

10 full stage 1 without slicks and withouts E85 are around 12

10 with slicks or with E85 there aren't many..
One example is 05OrangeSS with 11.1 with slicks+e85+weight reduction

AWD96 EVO 8 with bolts 11's??
Show me some evo like this!!!
Maybe you mean bolt ons ANDDD E85!
E85 is a huge advantage.. Here in Greece we don't have. We have pump gas 95 and 100octane. But E85 is like a race gas. With race gas you can more timing and more psi as you don't have detonations.
So E85 or no is the biggest "bolton" because we can talk maybe for 40hp with right tuning.

Some owners wrote "street tires" and they mean street drag.. Mt.. Hoosier..
haha street tires are your everyday radials tires...
You can tell street tires the r888 for example but not mt Hoosier etc...
I am reading about 1.5-1.6 and you wrote street tires :P
1.7-1.8 you can have with good launching at r888

It's eden right? And yeah while I didn't go 11's on pump I'm sure it could be accomplished if someone really wanted to try for it. Yes an Evo 8/9 compared to a X is faster mod for mod but you also have to remember there is a substantial weight difference between the models. For the OP just buy whatever you like to be honest. Either ct9a or cz4a can be made fast. Just takes different routes to do it.
