Official time slip for your first time ever at the track with your STOCK evo.

Okay guys, I just came back from the track today had alot fun, it was my first time ever running on the track, obviously great experience for me, please post your 1/4 mile time slip when you were at the track for the every 1st time only with stock evo with no aftermarket parts whatsoever. Please guys no flame here, haters are not welcomed, I'm just trying to see how many good drivers are out there. Well anyway this is mine, way below my expectation, no excuses:

1st run: 14.79 slip on 2nd gear bad launch
2nd run: 14.99 slip again, worse launch ever
3rd run: 14.45 still working on the shift and the launch.
Best 60 foot: 2.3 sec

Will try again in 2 more weeks. Hopefully will get better next time.

93 octane pump gas, 78 degree, sea level. No wind

Feel free to post yours. If you already have the mods please feel free to post too, but I prefer 100% stock evos.

It looks as if you're not building enough boost before launching. Try fluttering it a bit between 5,000 and 5,500rpm then slipping the clutch or whatever. You should post your mph too, that'll tell you what kind of times your evo is really capable of. At sea level your car should be faster then most other stock evo's.

Also try this next time at least once, don't launch the car. Just coast like you would at a stop light then punch it. See what kind of time you can run doing that.

But hell, you're out of the 15's. There's a blue evo in michigan that can barely run a high 14. Now he just installed a turbo-xs bov and is even slower and wonders why his car has a bad idle now... *sigh*

Thumbs up

Here's a link to my timeslips. This was my first time at the track with this car. I believe there was just over 1500 miles on the car. Since then I've done a Espelir cat-back. I'm hoping for 12.9's. I ran the low 13's on a hot April in Tampa, FL.

The the problem I'm facing right now is the launch, I probraly have to post this under drving technique section. you and another low 13s driver both got low on 60 ft, it's all about the launch, I guess I need to work on that.

I have only made a few runs on my car.. made three runs when the car was stock, ran something like a 12.93@105 (Its been over a year so forgive me if I don't remember exactly) with a 1.65 or 1.7 60' time.. It was before I realized how much damage a harsh launch can do.. That was the best of the three.. I had one run where I missed second and ran a 13.5 and another run which was 13.1 or something like that.. And NO I don't have the timeslips anymore.. It was a cool but mild (65-68 degree) early afternoon about 2 months after I got my car, so it was april or may, and the conditions were low humidity and the track was more or less at sea level.

Silencer,
Do you mind sharing your launch technique for comparison?

My 13.1's-13.2's (timeslips above) were done with a 6500rpm launch. 6500rpm shifts in the first 3 gears followed by a 4th gear 7000rpm redline through the traps.

Anyone else want to chime in with their technique?

5800 rpms with a quick slip of the clutch while going full throttle.

Cuts me a 1.73 -- 1.76 60ft.

Ran our evo for first time on friday, got the car last thursday.
13.36 @ 101.2 1.795 60' 5500rpm launch
13.38 @ 101.3 1.810 60' 60000rpm launch
boost at 18psi on 93 octane pumpgas for both runs.

clutch is crap...car has 17,000 miles on it, but Im sure has lots of abuse from previous owner. It would slip hard through first gear, and on the second run was slipping into the 1-2 shift. Hence the bad 60 times.

The car was modded by previous owner to what extent, I don't know. I bought it off the dealer he traded it in to "stock". Had to out a MBC on there, as the stock boost control lines were all missing when I bought it (yeah..fuel cutting from overboost).

Looks like ACT clutch going in after the OH DSM Shootout. should be banging some 12's once the clutch is in.
