Can't break into the 9's...
Seems like I've done every mod to this Evo and I STILL can't break into the 9's. Car weighs 3000lbs without me and is making 650whp uncorrected on a Mustang in Denver at 5280 feet. Keep in mind its harder to make more power up here at this altitude. My boost is set at 38 psi and I think we're choking the T3 housing so T4 twin scroll housing/manifold is next but I would think I could at least break into the 9's with the current setup. My trap speed is pretty high.
I know theres some room for improvement on my 60'. Should I be staging with my ebrake and would that help improve my time? Any suggestions? http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps58c5ef5b.jpg List of mods off the top of my head: 2.4 LR JE Pistons 10:1 MAP Ultimate Rods CNC ported head with 1mm oversized valves Kiggley Beehive Springs and light weight retainers Kiggely Oil Regulator ARP Main studs ARP L-19 head studs Cometic Head gasket GSC S3 Cams Magnus Intake Manifold Boomba 75mm throttle body Full race exhaust manifold.. What MPH are you shifting into 2nd gear? Are you sure the car has full traction before going into 2nd? Try getting your clutch out a bit faster, and also, are you using NLTS? That will help a lot.
Also, that is a huge turbo for only 143mph. Most people in your MPH range are running a 62mm. Maybe downgrade your turbo for something more responsive? Car will go 9s, it just needs proper driving. Unfortunately its hard to study off that video with that crazy loud integra. |

And here's Carz Evo running the same track with the same turbo with similar MPH but its a lighter car-

2.0 lost a wrist pin After that it went through two 2.4LR engines Third 2.4LR is staying together Previous owner went through 4-5 engines so the car itself may hold the record for the most engines lost. |
Holy ****....

Trust me, I ran about 90 10.0's... The wall/struggle between 10.0 and 9.9 is real.
Normally you need to sit on the limiter a bit before going into 2nd until you you feel that forward momentum throw you back into your seat (traction) after the initial launch. |
Just for discussion here is a 9 sec slip from 2011 that shows the incrementals to compare.
Of course this was at a track much closer to sea level (sorry don't know what the DA was that day) My car weighed roughly 3030 w/ me in it and all safety stuff needed to run sub 10.0 It looks as though the 330' is the key as with most it's likely the 1-2 shift as you can see that 1 tenth difference at the 330' mark turn into the difference of a 9.999 sec pass vs a 10.248 You actually had me by .01 in the 60' http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...K/SCAN0022.jpg Best of luck reaching your goal  |
I fill you man I leave in Colorado and is more difficult to make numbers that in sea level I talk to a lot of tuner and they have the same respond. is the altitude you will be killing in sea level.

The 1-2 shift is the biggest thing in my opinion if your 60' is in a good area. Make sure you're above 40mph if you're on stock EVO 8 trans gearing and use NLTS.
