You guys aren't seriously trying to convince anyone that you NEVER drive in a "spirited" manner off track, are you?

Anytime you're out playing, you should definitely be heal-toeing. Period. In fact, in order to ensure you're safe about, you should be doing it on every down-shift. If you're driving an automatic, and all your appendages are fully functional, you should sell your car and take the bus.

Another thing that should be taught to any person who drives a manual tranny car is to put the car in neutral when sitting at a light and let off the clutch. You should never sit for an extended period of time with your foot on the clutch because you are pushing the throw out bearing into the pressure plate. It can cause premature damage

How do most of you heel/toe.
Do you actually brake heel and toe gas?
I feel like my pedals really just aren't set up to do so.

I turn my foot clock wise and have majority of my foot on the brake and just the tip of my foot on the gas pedal.

I've seen in some of those crazy asian vids thats 10 minutes of feet they have the gas and break so close together they just move their foot to the left a little and twist their foot back and forth to put pressure on w/e needs the most.

Cheers!

This is how I heel-toe. I've got bigger feet and my hip doesn't seem to flex like other heel-toe drivers do. So I have pedal covers to widen the gas and brake. So I put the ball on the inside of my foot on the brake and roll my foot to press the gas. Works like a charm.

(BTW, there is a picture out there of the three styles of Heel-toe that I just can't find. It had three line drawings labeled A,B,C. One was toe-brake, one was toe-gas, and one was half and half like I drive. If anyone can find that pic, I'd appreciate it.)

I love heel-toe and double-clutching when driving. Double-clutching with rev-matching just makes downshifts feel smoother and more comfortable. I was driving a friend's mustang and did that without thinking. He looked at me and said "You just downshifted, didn't you? I didn't feel it!"

The heel-toe I like because I use the engine along with the brakes to slow down, so I can go down through the gears while keeping a steady deceleration.

Combine Heel-toe, double-clutching, and revmatching all together and you have a great time behind the wheel without breaking the law. It's like a mini-game, "Can I get the shifter into gear without feeling the synchros?" The car before my little corolla was a Lincoln Mark 8. For what I paid for the corolla and the cost ot get it on the road I could have fixed my Mark. But I didn't. And I just drove a Toyota Highlander for a month, and opted to go back to my Corolla. I just can't stand autos, they bore and frustrate me. Stickshift is just a BLAST.

Yeah sure, try doing that with the cellphone and a cup of Starbucks on your hand on public road . Most people can't keep the freaking car going straight down the road.

I drive with my knees while posting on EvoM, eating my breakfast, getting head from my gf, and shaving

with a straight razor too, I bet.
I've been trying all week to get this heel-toe thing down and I can revmatch perfect like once every third time. But I think my feet are just too big to do what I want them to do all the time. they don't fiy well into the toebox if I try to toe brake. My heek hits the side of the console. and I do this as I come to a near stop trying to get my foot onto the gas pedal while it's on the brake.

try using a sideways motion instead of turning your foot to blip the throttle.

Who says you can't heel-toe on public roads? I do all the time... its honestly just a habit at this point.

Heel-toe downshifting obviously has many benefits on the racetrack, but I use the technique on my daily drive because when done correctly it is easier on the drivetrain (tranny syncros) and even puts less stress on your motor mounts.
