...it had so much potential.
The worst part about it is this:

When the first movie was out in theaters, I remember defending some parts of it. Don't get me wrong. I bet that at least 75% of us all on here have seen the first one at least twice. Now with all the inacuracies it has, it still had to do with the things we all like, cars, racing, and chicks (not enough of any of these, because they also had a plot..even though the plot was lame). Anyway, I was working with this Puerto Rican guy who was convinced he was Asian. He was a huge kung-fu movie buff, and he was always doing gay stuff. He bowled, and he had "hadoken" on his bowling ball (remember the video game Street Fighter?). Anyway, he was queer like that. He knew nothing about cars, but he always tried to analyze things that other people liked and then he would procede to tell them why he thought it was stupid.

Well, in the opening scene of the movie, the Eclipse was racing against..um.....nothing. Remember, the test run he did to find out he needed NAWWS because his car was topping out at 140? Anyway, He asked me what kind of transmission was used in that car because he shifted like 15 times. A lot of other people I work with like cars and they hated this guy also. They couldn't think of anything to say to come back to his gayness. I asked him how many different camera angles were involved in that race. He said "what would that matter" and acted like it was just stupid and impossible. Then I reminded him about how king-fu movies always switch camera angles and show the same kick / punch / flip / jump / whatever like 15 times. He said that was different, because it was an effect used to intensify the situation in the movie. I just rolled my eyes and strangles him in my mind.

He is a lemming and needs to die. He now lives in San Diego. He drives a tan Mitsubishi Mirage with 4 doors and a wind deflector for the sunroof..but he has no sunroof.

Please kill him for the rest of the world.

Damn it, I went off topic again.

Josh

The green car at the beginning of the movie that Paul Walker was driving was a Toyota?

Funny. It looked like a 2nd Generation Eclipse to me. That was the one that went through about 10 gears and he said that he topped out at 140, so he needed Nos, 2 tanks, big ones, by tonight.

My understanding is that it isn't really necessary due to the synchros in our cars. It might save you a little wear and tear but it's not needed.

GS or an RS, I knew it was one or the other. The 420a valve cover was a dead giveaway. At least I didn't call it a Toyota. Funny how this website is for Mitsubishi enthusiasts, but they confuse a car that is so popular (like the 2nd Gen Eclipse) with a Toyota,....something-or-another....

It would not suprise me if that person never posted again under that screenname.

LOL I guess if you are compensating for upshifting too soon.

GM autos have always been susceptable to shifting in strange ways. I guess all autos are that way unless they are programmable for sport or performance shifting traits.

Same problem that Camaro owners had? Wasn't it called skip-shift or something like that? IF memory serves me correctly, there was a module you could buy that cost like $100 that would make it actually do what it was supposed to do from the start.......Go from 1st to 2nd to 3rd to 4th .......

Cheers
Probably because granny shifting is not the same as double clutching....... AFAIK, granny shifting is just shifting carefully and slowly as opposed to power shifting which is extremely rough on your whole drive train (but very effective for fast ETs).
Power shifting involves pushing the shift lever before depressing the clutch and slamming the lever into the next gear without even lifting the foot off the loud pedal
