Warrtalon Video not working
read above ...why do you hope a mustang? I believe he is stock.
Here is something interesting. My friend dynoed 281hp and about 289tq on the same dyno and same day on his mildly modded STI. His best run was a 13.6 at 99.80mph with a 1.8 60 foot. My other friend only ran a 14.3 in his Srt-4 and countless other's were running really bad times. Is it possible the track prep on that specific day was really bad and the take off hurt some cars get up to speed? After all Moroso is not known for it's great track prep. Either way thanks for the help guys. I'm going to try to head up in a few months. I might try going to the 1/8mile to bring my sixty foots down.

Track prep, or lack there of, does not make the car slow. People just love to say "track was not prepped," but really all that does is give people poor traction, but it's still more traction than the streets. With 99mph traps, traction is no issue. The track itself may just be slow for other reasons, but 99 is as bad as it would be up here at high altitude.
it could be that the clutch is just starting to slip? when I had my stock clutch I took it to the track and couldn't cut anything better than a 2.0 60 foot. I was so bumed out because this was my first time on my brand new 35r with a quick pump gas map. (warrtalon- I was asking you what gear I would cross the 1/8 mile in) and all I ran was 8.1 at 89mph. ;(
the next day I went to an empty street to practice my launch and the first time I launched the clutch completely let go. then I couldn't even have it in 5th gear without it slipping bad! it may be that his clutch is about to go? but who knows.. good luck... hope you get down into the 12's!!!
i dont understand how some people consistantly run fast quarter times like you warrtalon, near where i live i know quite a few evo owners even with modded evos that cant get good times at all.
an sti in my area with a fp red and supporting mods has run a best of 13.2 and all the gt35r evo's run mid to low 12's. i have not gone to the strip at all but i will be going next friday.
another example is my friend has an evo viii with hks 280's, tbe, ported exhaust mani, intake mbc and licp with a tune and can hardly run low 14's. also cobb stage 2 sti's run 14.5's at best. why does everyone run so slowly, i thought with my mods i would be able to hit somewhere in the 12's but with all these bad times i dont know what i will do. i will be going out on friday to test it out.
also the track is at around 5500 ft altitude could this affect it?
sorry for hijacking the thread...

2muchboost, you said, "then I couldn't even have it in 5th gear without it slipping bad." I think you're confused and think 5th should NOT slip, but your high gear will always slip the worst, because that's where we have the most load. It will slip less in lower gears, and it won't slip at all on the launch, because you're up at 6k rpm (unless the clutch is shot completely). You shouldn't have a GT35R with the stock clutch anyway.
Evobeatsti, does the 5500' altitude affect it???? Haha, dude, I thought you knew that part already. Altitude KILLS power. I lost 40whp peak but 70whp max up at 7k rpm. It not only kills power, but on the stock turbo, it slows our spool by a few hundred rpm, and it pushes the meat of the powerband to the left. So, we lose spool, we lose max power, and lose powerband. It is way harder to run good times at altitude, however, it sounds like all the people you're talking about just suck. I say this, because I ALSO run at 5500' altitude in Bandimere, but ran a 12.30 with my mods. That's a lot slower than I ran at sea level with less mods, though - 12.000.
It's not uncommon to see Evos and STIs running 14s or high 13s at my local tracks, and modded ones hit low 13s. The better drivers are able to minimize the altitude effect and still run decent times...

I'm sure the elevation has something to do with it but most of the time its just bad driving. iim sure warrtalon has hundreds if not thousands of passes, and that's why he is so fast and consistent. remember that how much HP/TQ a car makes and how fast u can run it at the track are two completely different things...
I do have hundreds and hundreds of passes in my lifetime, but my first ever 1/4-mile run was a 12.9 @ 103 in a 1G DSM on a 1.6 60'.
The secret is I had done several test'n'tunes on an 1/8th-mile track before doing a full 1/4.

yeah, what I ment was it was slipping really bad. I was on the freeway going home and it slipped in every gear. even in 5th at 2kr rpm's I would just try and tap the gas and it would slip really bad. just trying to say it was completely gone, and my track times were a warning that it was going out ;(
I know you shouldn't have a stock clutch with a 35r but it had lasted so long and so many launches that I wanted to run it till the end! and I did... ;(
wow! that's bad ***! that's what ill do... as soon as I get my clutch broken in ill be going down to the 1/8 mile track hopfully 2 or 3 times a month.. practice makes perfect!!!
