WOO HOO! my first mini-launch today!

well today i hit 1500 miles, so i figured i'd give the launch a try...i felt a little scared to launch directly from 1st, so i started in first...got rolling and put the clutch in, put it in 2nd, raised rpms to around 2500 and let it go...i mean i didn't drop the clutch...i just let it up nice and smooth...man it was sweet...i know it was a pissant launch, but even that little bit was awesome...i can't wait to do a proper launch from stand still...

which brings me to my question...

how high should i raise my rpms to launch from first and standing still?...3000?...whats the proper way to do this?...i don't want to tear *** on my clutch and transmission...and i don't plan to do it often...i just want to know how to do it for when i need my fix...ya know?...hehe

5000 slip is probably the most common launch used.

all on the clutch. and no, it cant handle it if you do it all the time.

BUT.. mitsubishi does advertise their 0-60 in 5 so i suppose its not a problem. gotta launch at high rpm to get those times.

hmm...so lemme get this straight...i want to be on the safe side, so say i launch at 3500 rpm from 1st standing still on a flat smooth surface....i RAISE the clutch right?...i don't just POP it up right?

god i suck at launching...this is my first high performance car...as i'm sure you've noticed...hehe

its all about feel. you dont want to pop the clutch, thats bad.

just rev to the desired rpm, lift off the clutch..

i read this on nasioc, or some other wrx club site.. 'raise your foot as iffyou just stepped on a nail' ... in other words, you will lift your foot FAST. so that there is slip, not dropped.

you will have to feel for it. a little practice and you will have it down.
