2-step smells like clutch?

im trying to teach myself how to launch correctly, but its not easy without someone that knows how to do it.

anways today i thinkk i got it, but im not 100% i also smelt clutch hxc. im wondering is this normal or did i F something up..

how i did it---
sitting at a light, reved up to about 5.5ish slowly let out clutch untill i felt a slip and let go.. tires spun (bald OEMs :'() motor stayed at 5.5 and went.

it didnt do the low bog like if you launch it at 4g.

i just want to make sure i did it right, or if i did something wrong so i dont do it again.
thanks!

not clutch smell, but take some coolant and oil mix it together and see if what have you smell, smell the same. If yes, bye bye head gasket or it could be valve seal, etc.

it might be clutch... maybe your staying on the clutch longer than you should. I have done it plenty of times learning how to launch the car. You are doing everything correctly just keep practicing

sounds right to me. I've launched my car with 2-step about 20 times. I had my dad try it yesterday and he did it almost perfect. His first time launching my car and that's with an Exedy Twin Disc HD clutch. What was funny was when he hit full boost in 3rd gear and he heard a loud pop and almost **** his pants. It was just my new UICP....the piece that connects to the intercooler just popped off because I didn't tighten it enough. His face was priceless.

Yes, clutch abuse (engaging at WOT 6K rpms constitutes abuse) will cause the disc and pressure plate to overheat and smell. If it's the stock clutch and your launching it repeatedly, you most likely overheated the pressure plate / clutch disc. The OEM pressure plate does not dissipate heat well and that is the primary reason why OEM clutches fail prematurely. Eventually, when you have to replace your clutch and PP you will see the discoloration and glazing that I'm describing.

launching at 1500 or 6000 constitutes abuse. When you drive off from a stop normally without slipping that is not abuse. Racing wears parts at a higher rate than daily driving. 5500 rpm launches can cause tire hop which can break transfer cases and produce crappy 60ft times.
